Loneliness

My husband has recently been hospitalised with a stroke with little chance of recovery, which on its own has been difficult to deal with, despite the support of our two sons, relatives and friends. However, coming home to an empty house each day and the loneliness associated with it is something I'm finding it very hard to come to terms with because of the prospect of facing the rest of my life on my own. There must be very many people who have had to face the same situation.

Hi Winsome ,I know what you are going through. It all feels like a dream that you can't wake up

from doesn't it? My husband passed away last October after 6weeks in intensive care. The house felt so empty and quiet ,so I to have the radio [talkback ] during the day and I have it on a night which is the worst time I think. I have it on a timer so It will go off after an hour ,but if I am still awake I just press again for another hour.It is a comfort to hear peoples voices and It helps me to drift off! It's good to get on to these pages and 'talk' As many are in the same 'boat'

as us. My thoughts are with you . here is a hug for you (((((((hug))))) :-) jayfeather
