Liberal Party brawls sends one man to hospital

A man has been bashed and hospitalised after a NSW Liberal Party meeting turned into an out-and-out brawl.
One source believes the fight broke out after a factional fight for control of the Party body responsible for selecting local government councillors or, as a senior Liberal Party source puts it "a tragic internal shit fight brought about by the pettiness of politics".
Another witness described the brawl as a result of an internal power play.
An older woman was pushed to the ground and "trampled on", while a man who tried to break up the fight was taken outside and bashed and kicked.
"To be honest I thought he was going to die," said one witness.
The NSW Liberal Party has issued a statement condemning the behaviour.
"The Party will fully cooperate with the police in relation to their enquiries. An internal investigation will also be undertaken and disciplinary action taken against those responsible," the statement said.
Onlookers trying to film the incident had their phone taken and smashed. Police are calling on anyone who has footage to come forward.
