Lets get a bit of culture into the site.

What are your favourite types of music.? I'll start it off by telling you some of mine. Leonard Bernstein - Symphony No. 6 Tchaikowsky. Pavarotti singing Nessun Dorma- Puccini, Sparticus the Ballet, and if you want a little light ballet, watch Rudy Nureyev on the Muppet Show dancing Swan Lake, very funny. All these can be watched on Youtube. I'd love to hear from other members about your favourites. And I would like everyone to keep to the subject. Thanks.

P.S.  I'm sorry I didn't see the posting Music and more before I started this.

Clasical music would be my favourites.

I also like classical music and some big bands also liked WW2 music & also Boogie,

Not that I listen much now as I am usually busy looking into other interesting stuff

Thanks girls. I must admit I love all the music from the 40's and my favourite male singers would have to be

Frank Sinatra and Tony Bennet. When I hear Frank singing "I've Got you under My Skin" in the car, I turn it up

to full volume and sit in raptures until it's finished. There's a Trombone solo in it to die for.

One of my favourites!

But I have lotos of other favourites~

One of my favourites Bolero. I was fortunate to see Russian Ballerina Maya Plisetskaya dance at

the Regent Theatre. She had 8 male Ballet dancers with her. It was spellbinding.  I think at that

time she was well into her 60's and died at 89.

The Perth Entertainment Centre was an indoor arena and cinema complex in Perth Western Australia, located on Wellington Street

Peter Edgeley created a lovely Bolero programme with Torville and Dean doing their magic on ice.in the 1980’s. My friend and I spent a lovely evening enjoying the skating.

How the time has flown away!!

Billy Joel - Lullabye

Eva Cassidy - Fields of Gold

Never can stand Frank Sinatra -- or Crosby -- don't mind Dean Martin --

I never have the radio on and haven't for years -- I download podcasts and put them on a USB and that's what I listen to in the car or when I wake at 2 am in the morning  -- as I can choose what to listen to and can start it again if I have to get out of the car b4 it is finished, mostly interesting facts and interviews -- don't bother with the commercial stations as I can't stand the Adds.

I am into mostly quiet times through the day

I do love Auld Lang Syne and things like that and they seldom play of a New Year now

Toot - I just love your choice of songs, I am a Billy Joel fan but must confess this is the first time I've heard Lullaby.

and I do love Fields of Gold.

Plan B -  I love Auld Lang Syne but it always brings me to tears as I remember those that have gone before me.

Yes it does that to me too HOLA everytime

Loving the Teskey Brothers at the moment, from Australia. Heaps of youtube on them. I have a collection of all types of music except classical, techno, pop and rap.

Those two people should be banned from The Meeting Place. I find the language insulting and I do not approve of it. This is not the place to carry on like this, use one of the other media platforms if you wish to insult each other.

How childish are these two? There are more important things to get het up about.

Give it a rest - for all of us watching from the sidelines. Go and play your music and calm down.

The radio these day are impossible to listen to as they only cater for the younger generations.

The only 2 stations are the news on the ABC at 7.45 in the morning while still in bed and after that the radio is off.

Except for 2CH on saturday night when Bob Rogers is on the air.

Lucky I have a lot of music on an old mobile which I play via bluetooth on the sound bar of my TV.

My music era is the 50's and 60's and I have collected a lot of CD's from way back then. Each to his own and this was driven home quite clearly when our eldest announced that when I die that my s**t music is going to the tip. Although I favour the 50's and 60's, I like listening to all types of music.

I don't think the picture came through so I'll try once more.

Our mother gently and cleverly introduced us to classical music from the cradle. I absolutely love it and have a large collection produced in the various ways of presentation through the years. I also like jazz, some country and western, folksongs - you name it except for heavy metal, hip-hop or any of the new seemingly tuneless stuff. You can't beat ABC Classic FM for variety and with modern technology it's possible to listen to radio stations around the world that suit one's interests. YouTube is also a great source of music and Apple Music or Spotify can offer a great variety too.

This is going back a long time!    The Merry Widow~

Love the music from that, we used to watch it at His Majesty's Theatre

movie,of,the,Merry,Widow

I saw "The Merry Widow" with June Bronhill when she was in her prime. What a beautiful voice.
