Lets get a bit of culture into the site.

What are your favourite types of music.? I'll start it off by telling you some of mine. Leonard Bernstein - Symphony No. 6 Tchaikowsky. Pavarotti singing Nessun Dorma- Puccini, Sparticus the Ballet, and if you want a little light ballet, watch Rudy Nureyev on the Muppet Show dancing Swan Lake, very funny. All these can be watched on Youtube. I'd love to hear from other members about your favourites. And I would like everyone to keep to the subject. Thanks.

P.S.  I'm sorry I didn't see the posting Music and more before I started this.

2:04 / 5:00    Hallelujah on Panflute | Aleluya by Edgar Muenala | (Official Music Video)

Panflute music used to have a strange effect on our beautiful cat when she was alive. She would become very sensual and appear ecstatic.

I know what you mean about cats reacting to certain music. Over the years I have had several cats that reacted to quite high-pitched sounds, including a special whistle that often brought them to me, when calling them by name had no effect.

I love all music genres but my favourite album - the whole album - is Evelyn Evelyn. It depicts the story of conjoined twins named Eve and Lyn who conjoin their names to Evelyn Evelyn. A most unusual album, catchy, dark and deep. Some singles from the album can be heard on YouTube but best to listen to the whole album to fully appreciate its brilliance.

My all-time favorite piece is "Kashmir" by Led Zeppelin, closely followed by "Mistral Wind" by a Canadian band called Heart.

My favorite music type is "Symphonic Metal" preferably with vocals sung by opera trained female mezzo-sopranos (such as Tarja Turanen, Lori Lewis, and Sharon den Adel), especially live performances backed by a large "classical" orchestra.

Currently (and this changes often) my favorite bands are "Therion" from Sweden, and the Dutch "Within Temptation"

I firmly believe that if the "classical" composers of yesteryear had access to the modern musical instruments of today, then Symphonic Rock would be the style that the vast majority of them would be creating.

And for those that refuse to believe a modern rock band can create music which has all the hallmarks of the great classical masterpieces, you need to listen to "Clavicula Nox" by Therion.

Classical eh? Mozart eat ya heart out!

Lucca,

THAT IS NOT THERION

Any fool can see it is a mob called Gamma Sector destroying Clavicula Nox

Try this one from a Therion performance at the 2007 Miskolc Opera Festival in Hungary

Or this one, the original Therion version on the album Vovin, released in 1998

Hawkeye - Love your choice in music at the 2007 Miskolc Opera Festival in Hungary.

Thanks Hawkeye. BEAUTIFUL. I can see why you were upset by the desecration put up by Lucca.

Have you ever listened to FLAMMA FLAMMA, The Fire Requiem, By Nicholas Lens? I think you might like it.

Did Hawkeye say he was upset anaconda? No he did not, but you never seize an opportunity to spit poison do you? What desecration are you talking about???

Hey Hawkeye, no offence meant, I thought all the recordings of Clavicula Nox were the same, so I just put one up and did not even notice it was not the one you mean. Hope you are not too upset as your mate thinks. Sorry for any desecration!Cheers!

Lucca, I'm offended by Gamma Sector, not by you

All good Hawkeye.

Had a listen today to the two links you put up. Found the Therion performance at the 2007 Miskolc Opera Festival electrifying. Superb orchestral arrangement so are the vocals.

Likewise the original Therion version.  Sure makes a difference when you’re listening to the real McCoy and not a hashed up version from Gammer Sector!

correction: Gamma Sector

I'm sure this section isn't meant to cause any serious dissent amongst particpants.

Music hath charms to soothe the savage breast...

I think I'll go to Beethoven's Ninth as an antidote.
