Glad to see how much we have gone up in pensions from Sept 09 to Sept 11 - says $148 per fortnight for singles and $146 a fortnight for a couple be it married under the marriage act or homosexual or lesbian defacto couple.

Funny thing is a quick check says not so.

www.fahcsia.gov.au has pensions since 1909.

Divide by 26.

Comes out exactly as my own calculations.

$76.90 per fortnight for singles.

$58.00 per fortnight for a married person.

or $116 for a couple of hetros or homos.rofl....

Not that I believe there are one lot of homosexual or lesbian couples who have given up $368.60 between them just so can be normal.

Or $184.30 each person of the couple.

Have to be mad to do so.

But just think of all that compensation that will flow from govt coffers next year.

Wonder if it'll cover the cost of aforementioned smart meters, desals, etc, as well as upwardly mobile energy costs due the carbon tax.

It wont cover the amount my latest electricity account for large winter quarter has risen by not even counting the rise in food prices etc due to the retailers and producers rises in power passed on to us peons.

What we get is piddling amount and then a long wait for the next bit about $338 in total for singles all up per annum and $255 each couple.

Mind you seeing as it has all changed since they did th modelling it will not be correct.

Sorry, BigVal.  I should have said it was purely a rhetorical/sarc  question.

Come July 2012, we'll get a bit extra in the pension, and people will get so excited thinking they've got extra money to spend.

Notwithstanding, energy charges have been rising over the last few years, all in the name of the Green agenda.  When the Carbon tax comes in, that will continue, along with everything going up.

we pensioners on comsuper will get  a 1.5% rise from January 2012,so you aged pensioners don't get your hopes up  for a rise as big as the pollies got it won't be coming

Probably wise to ask someone who actually gets the age pension rather than search web sites.

September 2009, My fortnightly pension was $568.10

September 2011 was $729.30

The increase is $161.20 p/f - that is fact.

You should have invested and paid superannuation.

This meant working hard when you were young and able.

I get more than double your fortnightly payment. I'm glad I saved and worked hard.

Davey, you must be much younger, as when I was working there was NO Super--but I still worked long and hard and did without to enable me to own my house and every thing else I have

Yes there was super and there always has been. My first was in a private insurance scheme which was not as good as later government controlled schemes.

There was no national government enforced savings but it was always there in the private sectors.

I'm 68 years old now

Well I saved my own money and invested myself--I had control of it that way--super wasn't an option glad I am not in super --with the loss it has had of late

My husband was in comsuper run by federal  government  and when he died  nowI get 5/8 of the comsuper  and a rise every January and July

I guess Davey has clearly made the point that's he's a very clever little vegemite, and knew a lot more than the rest of us.   Oh, and not forgetting, he's a self-proclaimed hit with the ladies so not only is he rich, he's a spunk as well.

Davey. You are a spring chicken. Just 68? Regarding superannuation, not in my husband's day and later, on a disabled pension so no hope of investing. One manages but I'm not looking forward to the rises coming, especially electricity and that will be worse when carbon tax comes in as I surmise, everything will go up. I can cut down on some things but I certainly won't cut down on the internet. What would I do without you all?

Thats a nice thing to say Seggie--I too would mis the net--I fid it very interesting informative

Oh dear oh dear wrong again Fwed. Take 100 lines.

I will have to try harder to beat Big Val.

Your age pension quoted above of $569.80 is for March qtr 2009 and married was $475.90.

And the big increase was in Sept 09 when the plonked a full $30 on top the of normal increases for singles only.

And your pension today is $748.80 and minus $671.90 makes a grand total of $76.90 not  $148.

Huge jump in the September qtr and a huge jump in the difference between receiving a single and a married amount of pension went from March 09 being $93.90 less to Sept 09 being $165.40 less.

Of course the gap will continue to escalate whilst the public service does the increases by percentages. Same happened with awards. So not all by design actually by default because either no one checks or no one actually can be bothered to care. Take your pick.

Also bet the public servants who gave the Minister the figures also made the exact same mistake.

Pays to check facts and the government web site has all the info and a link is on same page in Seniors.

Quoted where above ?

When I said "September 2009, My fortnightly pension was $568.10" I did make a small mistake I admit - it should have been $575.80. There was a rise the following fortnight which was in October which took it up to $671.90 pf for singles.

September 2011 was $729.30 as I said above (that was for me on 16th Sept) as I had a rise on 30 Sept.

The difference between sept 2009 and sept 2011 before the rises is $153.50 not $76.90 per fortnight for singles. as you say.

Obviously you do have a problem with facts and also a problem with the manner you present your mistaken figures.

Now do your 200 lines - "I am sorry for being a dunce fwed"

lol
