Lamb Cutlets

Sam Kekavitch says "invite the neighbours over for
Australia Day and serve them Lamb...Er we are happy to enjoy
a couple of lamb cutlets each if anyone offering? :)

$30 kilo here down in The Valley.....I think it would be like
the kids texting come on over for a party. Lamb chops at
this Seniors barbecue - come on over. I would think any
Seniors home will be inundated lol.
Lamb prices have gone through the roof but here in Australia
why?
Crazy are we? oranges from America while our orange farmers
plough theirs into the ground as unsellable.
Our beautiful clean water Prawns left while the ones from O/S
with the suspect water etc :( snapped up.
Fruit and veges. from all over the place - unbelievable to me
when I see where we import our goods from. Thank goodness
we have a vege. patch and a lot just in pots but so very nice.
Our poor farmers do deserve better.
All the best
Phyl.

Yes Phyl Lamb is way too dear--I like lamb cutlets BUT not at the price they are--I never buy the prawns and or seafood from O/S YUK!!

Yes and as you say Oranges etc coming from O/S as ell--well unless the fruit and veg are from here I don't buy that either.

About time they stopped importing this food and got to support our blokes here.

Australian Bureau of Statistics official consumer price index (CPI) data shows lamb has doubled in price since 2000. By comparison, beef rose 52 per cent and seafood by 51 per cent. Chicken only set buyers back an extra 15 per cent. Food prices in general increased 43 per cent.

The Daily Telegraph found Sydney butchers charging up to $59/kg for cutlets yesterday.

If prices continue to rise at the rate of the past decade, those lamb cutlets would hit $100/kg by Christmas 2016 - and reach nearly $120/kg in 10 years.

Sounds like they are well priced in the valley Phyl

I have a small boat and enjoy fishing with my wife now and then. Even here, we are beset by red tape......fuel costs a fortune, you need a license ($30 per year) and the rules are complex and change frequently......e.g., there are bag limts, size limits (cant keep small fish) but also for some species you must throw back large fish (breeding stock). There are different rules for different locations, exclusion zones etc etc. I live between two lakes that are about five kilometers apart......in one lake, I can use a crab trap that is banned in the other lake.

All that was annoying enough, but last week I passed a fishmonger and noticed VERY small whiting in his window. When I inquired, I was told that commercial fisherman dont have the same rules, so in effect, they can SELL me fish much smaller than those that I am required to throw back if I catch them. How is that fair?

It seems that we are being forced to spend what little money we have and nothing in this life is FREE anymore. I am all for managing and conserving our fish stocks, but we are only being forced to pay for centuries of Government apathy and mismanagement of this resource.

And kfc the Professional Fishermen use nets so of course

bring in hundreds of below size fish.

We have had boats when we lived near the sea and

(sure I did not catch fish) but Peter did, and I can hear you

asking "Phyl. do you eat fish" :red: well......yes.

and I know the joy of being out on the water albeit how quickly

the weather can change. We ended up blown onto Stingray Island

and spent the night and know we were lucky, but life is frought with

dangers so we live and enjoy while we can. Yes Innes and around the Point

at Lakes Entrance but we were in a bigger boat but very scary and

dangerous. (fun but)

Perfect day today!

Phyl.

Yes they put all these rules and regulation on the family fisher people--but the trawlers are allowed decimate our waters and he amount of fish that are killed in the nets they pull up is quite sickening, professional fishermen are some of the very worst offenders as far and not giving a darn about the ecology
