Koala throws hilarious tantrum after being ousted from its tree

This video is kind of heartbreaking and kind of hilarious too. This koala gets kicked out of its tree by a bully koala, which is a bit harsh, and the young one certainly lets the bigger koala know (as well as the whole neighbourhood) how put out it is by the ousting. It's the cutest tantrum you ever saw. The adorable little blighter got the last laugh though, as it was back in its tree by nightfall.

Awww bless his little 'cotton sox'

Great, especially for those who live in cities and never get to see our native fauna acting the way they normally do.

A great clip  :)

Feel like giving the little cutie a big cuddle.

I was switching between "ha-ha" and "oooh" the whole time I watched it. Koalas make some very funny noises. I have been lucky to have a lot of interaction with them. Aussie wildlife is awesome.

I agree with your comment on our fauna.

This interesting clip on the koala has been hot on facebook recently and a lot of the comments as to what is the reason for the "eviction" are interesting.

But also interesting are the comments about the kangaroo who was supposedly caring for his dying mate. The story lost it's appeal for some when it was suggested the roo was horny and trying to mate, which is more likely. source

I did see that one last night – something about fighting over the female for mating rights that may have actually killed her? So sad, but that's nature I suppose. My heart breaks just looking at that image.

It truly is a sorrowful image ...

Yes it is very sad. We used to have a family of sheep and I often witnessed the ram pushing the ewes around and bucking them. Makes me wonder about domestic violence and the notion of ownership and dominance....perhaps there is an element attributable to nature?

I'm pretty sure there is!!

I suspect it is not our civilised nature that protects others but laws and the fear of retribution.

Civilisation covers us with a very thin veneer indeed.

I don't agree with that rather cynical attitude Shaggers .

Rick,

Cynical no!

We are but in a very early stage of our development, we may someday become the thing we wish to be but now are a very long way from it.

Remove or discard the laws that protect women such as happens in a war or conflict and we will demonstrate just how unciviised we are.

The situation is not good even when peace exists.

Take it easy.

I agree that man has had a violent past. But I believe we are moving into an era where violence is unacceptable and is a progression of civilised man especially away from superstitions  which have held him back .

for man/him read society.

Rick,

Man is still violent and will be for a long time yet.

One only has to look about the world today and see how violent the male of the species is.

Laws will control that instinct to some extent but not change it. Only time, hopefully, and a lot of it will bring any true change.

Don't hold your breath.

Take it easy.

I don't agree Shaggers , even in those societies that are patriarchal like Traditional Islam , Catholic , Judaic and tribal it is the exception where women are treated violently .

Yes there is further to go but I think man is shaking off superstition and the violence that accompanies it .

Have to say I agree with Rick’s comments. Much of the research articles I’ve read recently and despite what we see on the news, violence is not getting worse. It has not even remained constant. As a matter of fact further study on this topic will show on a per capita basis, human violence has declined drastically over the millennia.

This is a great book if anyone is interested in having a read – “The Better Angels of Our Nature: The Decline of Violence in History and its Causes, written by a Harvard psychologist called Steven Pinker. Compared to our ancient ancestors we are certainly more peaceful and kind.

Banjo,

And still with a very long way to go.

If it wasn't for modern laws and their associated penalties our basic instincts would come to the fore.

Everything in life and on this planet has a long way to go. My faith in humanity is very strong and I don't agree with what you say and I quote "If it wasn't for modern laws and their associated penalties our basic instincts would come to the fore."

Most people do the right thing and it's not because of laws, it's because although humans have a violent nature at times, there is more evidence to suggest there is an inate capacity for caring and nurturing.

Cheers

Banjo,

You are possibly right.

I have come across human nature at its best and its worst.

I respect the fact your education and experience exceeds  mine and will let the topic go at that.

Take it easy.
