Jessica Watson

Teen sailor Jessica Watson says she has survived her toughest test to date with her yacht being slammed on its side four times by rogue waves and cyclonic winds in the Atlantic ocean.

Watson's online blog says after experiencing her first knockdown - which is when the mast goes below horizontal and into the sea - she then suffered three more during the eight-hour storm.

She was battered with wind gusts of up to 70 knots and a swell up to 10 metres.

Yes fwed, I have been following her blog every day and I take back my negative thoughts--she has proved to be quite an amazing young lady--and I wish her all the very best of luck with the rst of her adventure.

An amazing young woman. Amazing feat.

Keep safe Jessica.

I think she is either a very brave or foolish girl to do what she is. I note there has been very little coverage of her voyage lately compared to her departure.

Is it my imagination or is she terribly self conscious about her buck teeth that badly needed braces and avoids smiling much when the cameras are on her?

Tanwin, she is a person with a vision. I bet she doesn't do drugs and all that other awful stuff that goes on. She has a dream. Since when did your appearance have something to do with your achievements???

GO JESSICA girls can do it.

Since when did your appearance have something to do with your achievements???

Errr same would apply to you I guess kimberly.

I simply posed the question so there's no need to get all hot and bothered LOL. I thought her parents would have seen to her teeth as a priority before any 'dreams' were undertaken

Queensland teenage sailor Jessica Watson is on the home stretch to Australia, passing by South Africa's Cape of Good Hope and into the Indian Ocean.

The 16-year-old from the Sunshine Coast is attempting to be the youngest person to sail solo around the world.

Julie Watson says her daughter has more than 4,000 nautical miles to go before she reaches Western Australia.

"The Indian Ocean is a very big southern ocean, so we've still got May as our expected date home," she said.

"The Indian Ocean is probably the more notorious of all of them.

"There's some fairly ferocious lows that march around the bottom there."

just read through this lot,as I have not had access to a computer for 6 weeks ,Very brave lass to do what she is doing, I watched the video because of tanwin,s observation that Jesse needs braces, sorry Tan ,but I think you need glasses ! Jessica has widely spaced teeth, but so what? but I don't see any need for braces I think she looks great

Jessica is home. What a sight !!!!!

Yes she sure is and good on her what a great kid--I bet she will take some time to get back into having peeople around her--and not having the solitude

Watched for the hours it took today to see her cross the line.

Fantastic...............:)

Good on her and she decided to do the deed at 11.
