its time for some action
I have read the many letters regarding the appalling treatment pensioners received at the hands of our new government, to say I was dismayed is an understatment. I honestlyexpected more than pure ignorance. The pensioners that demonstrated on Flinders street station deserve our thanks, but, the media were not really interested in their stories, just if they took their tops off. While I applaud their courage the message was lost, we need to do more, I am interested in making contact with people who want to be more pro active, start a real camp[aign in all media, and not play the political game, if any one has any suggestions on how we can network, use our considerable experience to make them sit upand take notice, instead of waiting another year for a handout (maybe) we must make contact through this medium. I am a full time carer and things are so bad financially that I have considered moving mum into a facility, if I could find one, all my savings are gone...what do we do
ON THE ABC LATELINE THE OTHER NIGHT GREG COMBET INFORMED ALL WHO WERE WATCHING THAT PENSIONERS WERE PLEASED WITH OUR WONDERFUL BONUS OF $900 A YEAR . THEY ARE NOT GETTING THE MESSAGE OBVIOUSLY WE HAVE TO TRY HARDER AND KEEP USING THE AMOUNT $273 A WEEK.
$900 A YEAR IS AN EXTRA $17 A WEEK WHOOPEE--AND IT STILL KEEPS US UNDER THE POVERTY LINE AND LETS NOT FORGET THAT IT CAN BE TAKEN AWAY AT ANY TIME THE GOVT OF THE DAY WISH. i BELIEVE IT IS NOT MENTIONED IN NEXT YEARS BUDGET.
FORGET ABOUT BONUSES WE HAVE TO CONCENTRATE ON GETTING AN EXTRA $100 OR SO A WEEK IT IS THE ONLY WAY WE ARE GOING TO BE ABLE TO EVEN TRY AND KEEP UP WITH RISING PRICES, BUT WHILE THEY THINK THEY CAN FOB US OFF WITH SMALL BONUSES THEY WIILL USE THIS TO FOOL US AND THE PUBLIC ABOUT THEIR WONDERFUL GENEROSITY.
BY THE WAY WHATEVER HAPPENED TO MARGARET MAE, THE LIBERAL MP WHO WAS SO HORRIFIED BY OUR PLIGHT THAT SHE WAS GOING TO START HER OWN PETITION, HOW DID THE PARTY SHUT HER UP -- THREATEN TO TAKE AWAY PART OF HER TAXPAYERS FUNDED SUPER.
