It's here again!

Aussie. Rules Grand Final.
Nah not our beloved Swans but two great teams:_
Such a great day as the joy on so many kids and old and very old people
with Aussie. rules Football is wonderful. Costs nothing to watch it on tele. either, so even poor people can enjoy today. Anyone hates sport and footy can do other things so suits everyone. How wonderful to see stands full at Geelong and Waverly just to watch the two teams train. Not a lot of things in life give many thousands of people such a good time for so little money.
Did peple see a young very sick girl who is going to the footy today to watch her beloved Geelong play getting time out of hospital just to go?
and a 97 year old man also going to the footy today?
God bless them all.
and let a wonderful game happen today. If a draw a whole new game again next week now that would be fun.

Only minutes to go and looks like an easy Hawthorn win.

Bad luck for Geelong who have been on top all year, but it was a good game and a crowd of over 100 000 in attendance.

Now we wait for the cricket :)

I love watching good sport.

Gerry what a great win for Hawthorn hey? and a superb game to watch.

I usually have dinner on by now as we eat early but not this eve

Who cares about eating when such a great game to watch.

Congratulations Hawthorn and to think two years ago the coach was so badly critisized and nearly

sacked but was given a reprieve of another year to try .

Geelong played an outstanding game also of course.

All over for another year.

All the best

Phyl.

I agree with both the previous posters, a great game. I was pleased Hawthorn won, the only one I felt really sorry for was Garry Ablett, he played his heart out, but just didn't get the same dedication from their forward line. I grind my teeth every time Cam Mooney gets a goal, the Swannies could have done with him this season. It's going to be interesting to see who moves and who stays next season. I'm not sorry that Peter Everett has retired, another Dermott Brereton as far as his contribution to the Swans. There are some real guns in the Swans reserves, so hopefully some of them will be given the chance next season. Living in Canberra we get to see our reserves play, and also the injured premier league players on their way back to fitness, which is a real bonus.

Peter (husband) used to play for the under 18's South Melbourne Footy Team

and lived opposite the South Melb. ground so "the Bloods" are dear to his heart and we

went to watch the last game they played before they moved to Sydney. A really promising

footballer he was too but he got a bad injury re a cartledge in the left knee (fixable now but

as he was out of school and working and it would have been a big operation and very long

time off work it never got fixed.

Agree it was time for Peter Everett to retire.

Some great young blokes coming up so next year :) Not too many years back my Peter used to

play footy. with the kids around where we lived and they all reckoned he was a champion but

hey not only in footy. many things (of course I am biased) lol.

All the best

Phyl.

I lived in South Melbourne in 1962 - 63.

I remember going to see the Swans play at night time.

I think those were the early days of night football.

To this very day I think I was lucky to see (in my opinion) one of the greats of football play - Bobby Skilton.

Good memories :)

Gerry
