It was VERY hard work but :)

Peter and I have painted our 20sq. house approx. (older renovated home) first coat Saturday and Sunday and Monday and today (not too many hours each day as we are not as young as we used to be) over rendering finished a week ago; and let me tell you it was hard hard work :( But it looks wonderful and we still have another coat to go on :) :) :) I sure hope the second coat will not have as much "drag" as the first, as my arm is very sore :( and Peters back also sore but we did it :) and it really is lovely.
People have stopped and asked "are youi available to do ours" "not likely say us" lol
Achievement is nice especially when it turns out a treat and it will improve with the second coat.
We are real clever little pickles I think but oh SO achy.............

Good on you Phyl and Peter--I did my home in side and out--a few years ago--mine is brick outside so just a bit of painting out there but good to have the inside all done --except for the main bedroom --I am trying to get motivated to do that--but it is a good feeling to have it done and looking great and know you have done it yourself

Good on you Jane. They say hard work never killed anyone but I do think we believe we are still young until we start a big project :)

We rendered because I did not like a bit different match of the brickwork because the big room we live almost 24/7 in and love (size of two large rooms and has an extra toilet and wash basin) and is called a sun room actually but we still had a double cover of the sun shade put on the whole wall of windows floor to almost ceiling as we like it dark for the computer and tele. I think we are related to Vampires actually lol so would not like to forfeit this big area we love for the sake of slightly mismatched coloured brickwork but now it all looks uniform and extra insulation.

We are having a day off today and going shopping and really looking forward to it.

I have washing piled up and the very small courtyard lawn needs a mow but we cannot do everything so those things can wait. There are always paper knickers lol.

I think you have a big house like us? We just close off bedrooms and extra sitting rooms and have stopped the heating going through those rooms but we love knowing we jut have to open doors and we have our large place back while living in the area the two of us need.

All the best

Phyl.

Yes I have a big place and a big--(double block) here--a lot to look after but I have a lot of privacy--and that what I like more than anything--I am able to look out any window here and not see another house--just greenery and a nice water view--although the trees have grown and obscured a bit over the years.

I'm very proud of my brother at the moment. He's just about finished building his "final" home. He's 79, and has been working his rear end off. I was really worried that it would be his "final" home! He's a retired farmer, so has worked fairly hard all his life. I was quite worried when he bought the few acres where he could still grow his own vegies, raise a beef/sheep or two for his own use. But, he's just about done. Only got to get the plumbing connected and he's finished. To him, painting is a breeze - only have to do it every 10 or 20 years. Seems we still breed them tough in Australia.

That is a great achievment for your bro. Bev. Sounds like he is fit enough to live many many happy and productive years there also.

We are not bad painters either. Peter has painted inside and out our homes also and I have painted around 400 very large statues all in concrete when we had our big block alongside our home at Loch Sport and had a very large garden. But newly rendered concrete is hard yakka and different to ordinary painting as we have a big garage as well as our home to do and in fact still have a second coat to still do :) I have to admit I am not much chop up on a ladder as I have never liked heights. The second coat will not have the same drag as the first coat but roughcast is not easy. Whatever Peter and I do together is fun regardless but we have enjoyed shopping today and a day off the painting but back to it tomorrow.

All the best

Phyl. .

My oath we breed em tough Bev--good on him and may he have many years to enjoy his new place

Yes Phyl and that rough cast wears out the brushes and rollers too

When I moved South I bought my first chamfer on brick house. (The previous was brick)

It needed to be painted and I was told it will have to be painted every few years ...

I cladded the lot! - no more painting.
