Internet censorship

If I recall, BigVal posted quite a bit on this topice some time ago. Steven Conroy is determined to push the bill through in the face of not only massive opposition, but in the knowledge that it will be a huge waste of money, as internet nerds have proved that it is too easy to bypass the block. There also other ways for porn peddlers to spread their filth...via email for example.
Even children as young as 14 have proved the fallibility of the plan.

It appears now the UK are well on the way to implement similar laws.
Over 20,000 members of the public have written to their MPs in the last week to lobby against the bill being rushed through, however, their concerns have fallen on deaf ears and the government has been allowed to deal a devastating blow to the last real vestige of free speech in this country.
Good post koko, but from the little I have been able to

discern about the British Bill, it goes little further than the

censorship of Porn, which is bad enough. The Australian

Bill gives the Government of the day, be it Labor, Liberal or,

(God help the very thought) Green the right to not only censor

porn, but even goes as far as to legally ban even discussion

on ANY subject, at will.

The British bill seems to give similar powers to the govt.

as in

We are at cross purposes koko. I understand the control of ISPs, but the

Australian Bill gives the right to ban ALL media mention or publication or even

discussion on ANY subject whether Political, welfare or even human rights.

I have been put down for making the statement before, but it is already

illegal to discuss euthanasia in my Country. Under the already existing Law,

if Bromwyn Bishop who is 67 were to get inoperable cancer & were to raise

the subject, she could be arrested, convicted jailed & removed from her seat.

My apologies Innes. I misread your post.

Very worrying indeed.
