Cruises are cancelled AGAIN in Australia despite hopes they would set sail before Christmas - as new Covid variant Omicron spreads

P&O Cruises has extended its suspension on trips in Australia until March of 2022, dashing hopes of summer sailing over Christmas as the Omicron Covid variant causes major uncertainty.

[I cannot believe people would consider going on a cruise in the light of day!]

I cannot believe people would consider going on a cruise ...

Neither can I.

Yet there is a lot of people that are interested in and have booked to go on those trips

Celia - I wouldn't go on one of those cruises if I was given an all expenses paid for trip around the World.

Me neither Hola.

We, hubby and I were looking at photos on a report about all the plans that have been left in the WA bush over the last few years, now who in their right mind would want to jet off on them?  Look at all the dust that must have got into the working parts over the year [s]!

Hubby was saying it takes hours for an engineer to go through one plane and check it out, never mind hundreds or thousands of them.

This cheerful schoolboy is celebrating his 53rd birthday today amid a busy week in Australian politics.

Such a lovely change from everything being made from plastic.

Saudi authorities disqualify more than 40 contestants from a camel beauty pageant for using Botox.

Scandal has once again rocked Saudi Arabia's King Abdulaziz Camel Festival, with dozens of camels disqualified from a beauty pageant over the use of Botox and other cosmetic touch-ups. The state-run Saudi Press Agency says more than 40 camels were disqualified from the contest this year.

LOL!!! Now I have heard everything

Do not know which is crazier the Camel Beauty Pageant or the use of Botox on the camels.... but it must definitely be the humans in all this drama.

It is laughable reading that story.  They put more emphasis on the beauty of their Camels than the beauty

of their wives.

LOL

Thank you RnR  I see you have Mrs Clause up on the wall keeping an eye on things!

I love the drawings of her in the pictures!

Beautiful RnR, such vibrant colours.

Merry Christmas Gif 2021: Merry Christmas best animated gif greetings

Two crewmen are feared dead after two cargo ships - one British - collide, leaving Danish vessel upside down off Sweden, sparking criminal investigation Two cargo ships - one British - collide in the Baltic Sea: Two crew feared dead

A British ship, the Scot Carrier (main image close to the camera) crashed into Danish vessel Karin Hoej (overturned furthest from the camera main image), around 3.30am Monday in the Baltic Sea with the Danish vessel capsizing, leaving two of its crew missing, rescuers said. Search teams said 'screams' were heard coming from the water around 4.45am local time but that by 9am no signs of life had been found. Rescuers say it would be impossible for anyone to survive in the water that long and have now called off the search, with a criminal investigation opened. The accident happened as the two vessels passed through a 25-mile wide stretch of water between the tip of southern Sweden and the Danish island of Bornholm (left inset), sailing in the same direction. Forecasters said the weather was calm but foggy at the time.

[a sad Christmas for some families reading this report]

Parrots getting drunk after eating fallen, fermenting mangoes in the Kimberley ...

In the past week, Broome Veterinary Hospital has treated a number of drunk red-winged parrots after they have consumed ethanol as a result of eating fallen fruit. Broome veterinarian, Paul Murphy, said several lucky birds had been brought into the clinic.

“So far, we've seen about half a dozen in total, but there are a lot of them, unfortunately, that don't make it to the clinic because they pass away before people find them,” he said.

You would think that people would pick up and dispose the fallen mangos.

I can remember seeing a documentary about Elephants eating fermented Mangoes that had fallen on to the ground, poor animals were well and truly intoxicated and were staggering all over the place.

Still out 7.30pm .... don't know how long laptop and mobile will last.

FINALLY ... lights, camera action at 8.00 pm.

Very frustrating when that happens RnR However, around 1991 we had the same thing happen where we were living and it lasted for three days and all the food in the freezer was useless!  I hope I never experience that again.

Good luck I shall be thinking of you and hoping it is sorted soon.

I thought you were in Queensland RnR?

Freak 'tornado-like' storm rips through Sydney leaving one dead, two fighting for life and dozens of homes destroyed - as witnesses report hearing harrowing screams as trees crashed to the ground

A woman in her 70s has been killed and two others are fighting for their lives after a freak ‘mii-tornado’ smashed Sydney's Northern Beaches on a picturesque 34C summer day (footage of the storm, centre). The three women were trapped inside a car when a tree came crashing down in the monster storm (pictured bottom right, one of the women being taken away on a stretcher). More than 20,000 homes are without electricity as power lines and trees were toppled across the area, tearing the roofs off apartment buildings (top right) and causing chaos on the roads (bottom left). In bizarre scenes, lifesavers even had to swim out into breaking waves to collect a trampoline that had been blown from a nearby backyard all the way to the waterfront (top left)

So frustrating RnR, glad things are back to normal.  That freaky mini tornado on the north short today, never seen anything like it before, the weather has gone absolutely crazy.

Saw the news reports Toot on the North Shore mini-tornado ... so scary.

Glad you survived your outage RnR

Hope it was not too hot for you ...we had 37C here so my air con was going.

Did they tell the reason for the outage ????

How sad.

Giant millipede fossil found on UK beach by accident reveals 'world's biggest bug', weighing 50kg.

The fossilised partial remains of an extinct millipede — also known as Arthropleura — was detected when a block of sandstone was cleaved in two at Howick in Northumberland. When the sandstone opened up, the exposed fossil revealed a millipede believed to have been around 2.5 metres long — more than 25 times longer than the average centipede.

Boy, that's a big one.  So much we are yet to learn about what was going on back then.  Glad we weren't around to find out. lol

Aussie woman finds the world's largest MOTH perched on a plant pot in Cairns

An Australian woman has been left in awe after finding a spectacularly-coloured moth perched on a plant pot. The nature lover took a photo of a Hercules moth on a balcony in Cairns on Tuesday. The species is native to far north Queensland and boasts the world's largest moth wingspan at up to 27cm.

Full DM story.

I was lucky enough to see one of these a few years back in Mission Beach, FNQ. Just amazed me, so huge.

Thank you RnR for that amazing picture.     I never knew moths got that large.

WoW!  RnR thank you for sharing it with us, it is fantastic, I was going to say it had to belong to Queensland!  I must share this with friends overseas now.

The moth looks exhausted and hanging onto the pot for dear life.
