How to stop your iPhone from waking you at night

Have you ever been woken at night for some reason unbeknownst to you? Does it happen often?

Recently, I went through a phase of always waking up at 3.30am each morning. At first I thought it was just by body waking me, or maybe the tossing and turning of my beloved. One night, after a few nights of being woken at this ridiculous time, my lovely went and slept on the couch so I could have a good, solid night's sleep. Lo and behold, I woke at 3.30am.

It was weeks before I realised that it was a notification on my iPhone that came through at the same each morning.

Anyway, to cut a long story short, short of switching off my phone altogether and being in danger of no alram in the morning to wake me when I actually wanted to wake, I had an epiphany.

There's a handy little fucntion on the iPhone called 'Do Not Disturb'. So I tired it and it works a treat. I can still receive emergency calls form my loved ones (contacts stored as my 'Favourites'), but no more annoying midnight notifications or text messages.

To access this mode, go to Settings > Do Not Disturb, then you can switch it on manually, or schedule a time for your phone to do this every night. You can allow calls from Favourites, and select other modes to suit your purpose.

Since I've done that. I've slept right through til my alarm in the morning.
