Herding Cats Again

I wrote this post earlier, but somehow it fell out of this forum - ??

Everyone who posts here knows there are problems with both colours of Government. Pensioners (disabled or otherwise) are treated at one step above Aboriginals - sounds bad but unfortunately it's true.

The bottom rung of Australian society are the Aborigines, the next rung are pensioners, followed very closely by persons dependent on centerlink for their sole source of income.

Neither party cares, nor will they make any effort to assist our plight.

Why is this so ?????

Because not even a simple forum like this one can be bothered to band together in a common cause .............

That is "To make life better for those who can't better their own lives"

Apathy and the 'I'm alright Jack' attitude, etc is the pensioners downfall. Happy to whine but don't really want to do anything about it, or, like many, I don't want to make waves.

So in February of next year (2009) when the Taxation Review comes through and due to petrol reaching $3.00 per litre, the Government decides to subsidize it, there will be very little money left to give us a decent living pension.

Just keep on moaning or as I suggested before

List your top priorities of things you want improved.

This is my contribution to the list
1. A better pension payment for those dependent entirely on Centrelink for income.

Once I have a decent list of our aims, that we are agreed to, we can start petitioning with ALL forum members being signatories and start hitting all the various media outlets - radio, TV, newspapers.

I could have written screeds of continuation details to this post, but as the title says - it's like herding cats - 'cos my guess is that no one really cares unless they are directly affected by the current situation.

FYI - 19+ persons over the age of 55 are declaring bankruptcy every month. I wonder how many it will be by Christmas - just looking at reverse mortgages and it's impact on seniors.
