Help need replacing guttering and roof restoration

We are looking to replace our gutters and fascia and get our roof repaired and painted. Our house is 30 years old and these need doing. I have spent the last 3 weeks looking for people and companies to quote on these and getting varying advice and prices.

Can anyone help? Any advice is welcome, together with any recommended companies. Any bad experiences also needed.

I live in Melbourne.

Yes Nautilus,t is all Jobs for the boys--as a friend that has a business has told me --the hoops  they have to jump through is quite silly, when there is NO need at all for the different inspections and buliding rules--that add a heap to the consumer

Yes I understand now that it all is Julia's and Labor's fault but what has all this got to do with "Help need replacing guttering and roof restoration"

Seems some turn any situation into a political one.

Things get off rack Fwed--from time to time

It will be a very long day when fwed doesn't come out from beneath his rock to have a personal shot.  The consolation is that there is a number of posters he also dogs relentlessly.

Of course he could have obeyed his own rule and commented on the subject of the thread, but no, he just cannot resist.  :(

I see you have not grown up yet little boy

Thankyou to everyone who took the time to post an answer to my problem. Would just like to tell people that I eventually got 7 quotes for the guttering from tradies to large companies. Did find we also had quite a few broken tiles and the valleys also needed doing so we took everything on board from the roof plumbers. Eventually chose a mid price roof plumber for the guttering and had the roof done for the broken tiles and general maintenance of the roof by another roof plumber. I had excellent results and very happy with both plumbers. The house looks so much better and will last for a long time to come.

Overall I did find the initial checking period  a bit stressful but very glad we took our time and asked a lot of questions.

The one thing I found was that the large roof and guttering companies I got to come gave a lot of information, but one just wrote down a figure for the cost, way too expensive and no invoice of quote given. The other was also too expensive.

Would recommend a tradie anyday.

I need to have some repairs done myself and also a paint job for the woodwork--

Plan B. if you are contemplating hiring someone for painting and carpentry, and looking for a reasonable price, why not contact your council aged care, who could nominate one for you, We have that, through our local council. plus in your locality, there should be a local who classifies himself as a handyman. The cost always depends on what you require, good luck.

Thanks Seth

You could all look for the "Grey Army" to come and quote......contact your local council to find them.
