Have COVID vaccinations changed you?

Have you changed? I know I have.

Vaccination, whether its Astrazeneca, Pfizer or Moderna, most of us have fairly strong opinions. Which is best? Should I wait? I dont believe in vacccinations.

But with Australia having reached 70% vaccination we are a country eager and excited to be released, but are you cautious? I am.

It's all good for anti-vaxxers to say 'its my choice' or 'I have good immunity' but at the end of the day, it may be your choice but your choice is affecting your family, community and can I be dramatic, and say country?

Your choices have consequences . Will I be keen to recommence training with my anti-vaxer personal trainer? No

Will I be visiting my dear friend in regional Victoria who thinks her immunity is good enough to cope with a COVID infection? No

Will I be checking my dinner guests to check if they have been fully vaxed? Yes

Some may think that I am a 'double vax' snob but we have all done the hard yards and I dont want to be 'screwed up' again.

Is anyone else a 'double vax' snob?

YES! I am an anti vax snob and I hope they all keep away from me. They are not welcome in my world.

Yay! And can you believe Novak Djokovic refusing to reveal his vaccination status because it is a private matter. Really? I hope the Victorian government don't cave in and let him compete in the Australian Open

I am a tennis fan...but no longer a fan of his.

my vax-resistant conspiracy loving cousins finally relented and were vaccinated after her partner's job was unceremoniously put on the line. On Thursday night before last weekend his boss gave  an ultimatum – "don't come in on Monday if you are not vaccinated". Now these cousins are Scomo level religious and, to their shock, they find themselves on the outer with their unvaccinated Christian brethren who are now discriminating against them for being vaccinated. To say they are shocked, upset and angry is an understatement. As Julie says, "Jesus isn't happy".

Farside - Good on your cousins for being vaccinated. One of my Sisters refuses to get the Jab saying she is not going to get it because she won't be told what to do.? I said "Do it for your family and friends, but she said some of her friends won't get it either" She spends too much time looking to the computer for advice. She hasn't been out of her home for over 4months Her family have given up on her and won't be calling in to see her for Christmas. Is it worth losing your family for the sake of the Jab????

Is it worth losing your family for the sake of the Jab????

I would say no Hola ... but sadly you just can't change some people's attitudes.

RnR -  It is so so sad. I feel for her family, and she just thinks she is right.  Very narrow minded.  Always quoting the Bible and sending prayers to us.  It doesn't gel with me, very hypocritical in her thinking.

Is this some religious or cultural hesitancy ?

Yet Scomo even with his religious level was one of the first to be vacinated with his first jab of Pfizer back in February

I am D-jabbed but learning so much more about the efficacy of the jab. Only 4 months after last one they say;  others who are not jabbed are not all  infectious and should not be victimized like they are in this country, in fact some OS info states that the DJ are carrying and infecting?? I am not anti- vacc but vehemently opposed to vacc passports and border , work jab mandates. this is supposed to be a democracy where we are entitled to our freedoms.

I am distressed to hear they are jabbing children - this is n ot tested on kids and worldwide other countries are not jabbing kids. This is frightening sci-fi stuff.... commonsense from all sides has got to prevail sooner rather than later..

Taking basic freedoms away like, jobs, outings, shopping entertainment etc  is appalling and I'm disgusted at the public frenzy to get the jab thinking it is the magic cure. It is not...please learn more and inform yourself more broadly before blindly believing  the media and government. There are many many sources of very credible information. ie Dr Nikolai Petrovsky - Professor, Flinders Uni SA... just listen , cant hurt can it... fabulous youtube interview.

My family is n ow divided but arent we all the same people we were before the vacc roll out??? the  unvacced have now become public enemy no 1.  Im disgusted and ashamed ...not a healthy society to be in at all ????

I have no interest in whether my friends are vaccinated or not.

Anyone of them, vax or not, can get Covid and pass it on with the same viral level and vaccination wanes short of 6 months anyhow. We've been scared witless for little reason.

"Has not been tested on children" is not quite true.  One trial has been done & others ave been going for a while.  Pfizer has completed their first round of testing for ages down to 5 years old & are requesting approval in the USA.

All the companies recognise that trials for children are a totally different thing to trials for adults & the Risk / Benefits ratio must result in a significant benefit for the child & not just protecting the community from the child spreading COVID.  That makes the trials longer & harder to run & is why the trials have been left till lately when the vacine safety with adults has been so well tested.

A page with Child Trial info is below:

https://journalistsresource.org/health/covid-19-vaccine-in-children/

Testing on children has not been done to the same extent as adults simply because so many adults have been vaccinated now & because children normally do not have as severe problems with COVID ... but they can.  It made sense to get the best adult data first.  I think Delta has also caused a lot more children to get COVID.

As far as DJ Fully Vaccinated getting COVID - some US data shows that 20 - 50% of FULLY VACCINATED (DJ) will get COVID from Delta.

A few reports even seem to show that some fully vaccinated that catch COVID may have the same virus load as unvaccinated but few health effects.

The big difference with Fully Vaccinated is that you are unlikely to require hospitalisation, & extremely unlikely to require ICU or die.

Deaths & hospitalisation are mainly the unvaccinated in countries with large COVID deaths but with significant numbers fully vaccinated.

The Vaccine will NOT totally stop you getting COVID but IT WILL likely prevent you from needing hospitalisation, needing ICU or death.

I was talking to a guy in Manilla on Tech Support.
It is hard to get the vaccine there.  He has been trying for some time.
He has had COVID twice in the past year & said that he was only alive because it didn't get into his lungs.
He stated that the hospitals have people turning blue & dying on the pavements outside them because they couldn't get in & couldn't get oxygen.
He said that he had lost a lot of friends & relatives, even in the past year & that they only leave home when they have no other alternative, & if one person only can go then only person goes.
That is the sad reality in some other countries.

Regards,
Brian

Great comment, Choylee.

I just say this to people: "Whether you're vaxxed or unvaxxed is a game of Russian Roulette. So, for your mental health's sake, be happy with the choice you've made and shut up about convincing other people - it's just so divisive! Keep your mind open and stop burrowing down internet rabbit warrens because they're paid by your every click, so they are full of sensationalized misinformation. They all have agendas way beyond vaccinations and many are seeking your vote, for which the preferences will flow back to Morrison and the LNP."

Please folks, stop the division. We are all people just trying to get by. Healthy people have become very sick and have died from Covid and also from being vaccinated. Let's show the authorities they aren't controlling our lives by rising above their bloody-minded political games. Be grateful and joyous that you have a life. Live it while you can, with grace and love.

I'm not about to lose friends of many years because of COVID. I'm double vaccinated, carry proof of that and show it whenever I'm asked when entering a business premises. What my friends choose to do is their business, not mine. I accept my friends with all faults, if any. Even us vaccinated people can get COVID and pass it on but we are assured that if we do get COVID the effects will be much less severe.

I agree with I'm not about to lose friends comments.  I feel its a personal choice and i accept my friends views as to what they want to put in their bodies.  At the same time it is a bad virus and it is good to be protected. Again freedom of choice and we shouldn't condemn those that choose not to.

Oh well, not long now, Covid will sweep through  society with a clean  broom.

Disposing of all those nay sayers who think they know more than the scientific bodies.

Their " rights" will be tested and found to be wanting unforfunately. No room in the hospitals guys, you had your chance and blew it! Live, or die with it.

I have been vaccinated but I really have my doubts if they really know what the hell they are doing or know much about this virus at all as every day there were different messages which give you NO faith in them at all.

I also know of 7 of my friends that have been fully vaccinated and they have all had the COVID

Makes me wonder if this encephalitis thing is going to be yet another  "plandemic"

I don't think it will be long before we will have to wear masks again as the Covid virus is infecting more people again.  Also many people are not coming forward to have their 3rd shot, too lazy or what?

Yes HOLA, we will be in the winter and also the fl season as well as the breakout of COVID again --- I have heard there is another better pneumonia vac now too
