No Pete I will not be posting on this Topic anymore, it has been trashed. Fortunately the beautiful Poems remain to be enjoyed.

There Pete

You're a poet and you don't know it

....least someone has some humour on here - lol lol lol - jeeez

Trash to one is treasure to another.

I enjoy poetry, I write it even but what I write and is to my taste is obviously different from many others which is as it should be.

To dictate what should and what should not be presented on an open forum such as this is a bit beyond the pale.

This topic would have wandered as most topics do. A good thing, the topic is all the more interesting for it as life is not all tranquility and roses as much as we may want it to be. Irreverence is part of the Australian psyche, a charming part of our society I feel.

Despite the 'End' I shall post some more verse when I have a bit of time. Of a more thoughtful and sensitive nature methinks.

Life is far too short to get wound up about a limerick here and there. There are far more important things about that require the raising of the ire.

Take it easy.

Beautiful day here !

...hey Shaggy - never ever try to deal with a "Drama Queen" - you will always lose! lol - it was fun whilst it lasted   :-)  You/Davey/Pete - very funny!!!  Life is too short ......... :-) I had a laugh................... thankyou

SD,

There is a great difference between sentimental kitsch and good poetry. Albeit, everyone should be able to enjoy the poetry they like and which resonates with them.

What would you say one of the defining marks between good poetry and kitsch would be?

Individual taste , Twilsy..

What a pity! I was really enjoying this thread of yours Fleur and it inspired me to again indulge in a love I have had since childhood when I began writing my own poems. I have begun rereading some of my old loved poetry books which have stayed untouched for quite a few years so I thank you for that.

Wonderful Robi...I'm so glad...poetry is like food to me. Come in whenever you like..lol!!

This is a forum you idiots not a bloody graveyard.

...the Ghosts of YLC are a commin' to get ya -  :-) - careful Davey - you cannot say "idiots" anymore ....please be mindful of that!

Thanks foxy ........." low interlect" then

Hope you don't mind the correction...I think you mean to say "low intellect"

Well you did find the mispelt word so you may have more than some.

Instead of coming and going and swiching to micha try to grow a personality and have fun like the rest of us.

haha...I have lots of "furn" !!

Laila's Dream Job

There once was a girl named Laila

The Man From Greece

There once was a man from Greece
He was incredibly obese
He rolled round the world
crushing all boys and girls
then fell into a vat of grease

 Giant Squid Ditty

I went down to that deep sea and i tell you what i did
I went down to that deep sea and i tell you what i did
I hook line and sinkered on that giant deep sea squid

I caught me a big one, caught me a giant squid
I caught me a big one, caught me a giant squid
I reeled him in, it took ten men oh lawdy yes it did

Well he wasn’t dead yet, he grabbed on to my leg
Well he wasn’t dead yet, he grabbed on to my leg
Pulled me down, i grabbed the rail i tried to stay
Pulled me down, i grabbed the rail fell to my watery grave

There was an Old Man of Kilkenny,
Who never had more than a penny;
He spent all that money,
In onions and honey,
That wayward Old Man of Kilkenny."

There was a pollie called Clive

Doing his best to connive

He took on  Jackie Lambie

Yes, very good Radish. You have inspired me to have a go.

There exists a PM named Abbott

Who has an unfortunate habit

of wheeling and dealing

and lying and stealing

For Aussies he creates havoc.

Poetry and 'TRUTH"who would have thought that could be taught.
