GPs are to ask every patient by end of this year if aboriginal

Note to self - tell doctor yes I am an aboriginal of the country as born here.

Aboriginal = native born.

TIC = tongue in cheek.

Sorry my sense of humour always want to do this on government forms too. Pc patronises minorities whilst supposedly looking after them.

Anyone who questions them on it - labelled racist immediately.

I am sure it won't make any difference their health--if the Drs are doing the right thing they should be monitoring everyones health--and should know by doing that

When applying for Youth Start a few years ago my niece was told to tick the Aboriginal descent box. as it is not checked anyway she would rreceive better benefits. One of her friends did just that and was never questioned all through university,

I wouldn't like to tell a fib as it will catch you up later in some way--I know if you have mixed blood--you do get many other benefits

I ticked "Maybe but have my doubts".

Seems a stupid idea to me tho

What a good idea BigVal, trouble is my GP knows me that well I doudt if I could keep a straight face.

I actually don't blame her because if her parents were born here then she is of aboriginal (native born) descent in the purest meaning of the word.

Anyone born in any country is an aboriginal.

I wonder what they would do if we all ticked yes to having aboriginal blood ?

O,f Course Big Val is right we that were born here are native born

and then again How would we really know? it's a wise child that knows it;s father

I must be wise then ;)

Oxford dictionary

aboriginal

existing in the counry from the beginning.

earliest inhabitant.

Sorry Val but you are a X generation import.

Seggie. My vote. Maybe it would help those who want to be helped but I very much doubt it.

Experience of friend in Northern Territory said some want help, others OK with the way they are. Own experience in Alice Springs was to see children raiding garbage bins for food. We guessed their parents were those or relations we saw sitting in the dry Todd River and obviously not drinking water. What hope did those children have? One older child held the other's legs and into the bin they went, as I said, looking for food. We noticed American visitors throwing hamburgers into the bins as they didn't like the taste so we guessed these children knew this. We saw the same thing for weeks on end and my guess is that nothing has changed.
