Frasier actor John Mahoney dies aged 77

Actor John Mahoney, famous for his role as the Frasier Crane’s father Martin in the hit TV series Frasier, died in Chicago on Sunday following a short illness, according to his publicist. He was 77.

Born in Blackpool, England, in 1940, Mahoney started acting late, winning his first role in 1977.

In 1986, Mahoney won Broadway’s Tony Award for Best Featured Actor in a Play for his performance in John Guare’s The House of Blue Leaves.

Before finding success in television, Mahoney made his film debut in Tin Men and Moonstruck. He went on play memorable roles in Reality Bites, Say Anything, and American President, among others.

Mahoney also had a prolific career as a voice actor, featuring in several animated films including Antz, Atlantis: The Lost Empire, and The Iron Giant.

I am currently watching repeats of Frasier on Channel10 ... and very much enjoy the role that John Myhoney plays as Martin Crane who is Frasier's father.

I've always liked John Mahoney in Frasier. In fact I've always liked the whole cast. I never get bored watching the repeats. 

They are running repeats on Channel Eleven Logoat 5.30pm and 6pm

and 2.30am and 3.00 am if you cannot sleep
