Sophie do you write poetry?

I have done in years gone by, in these uncertain times I think it leans towards verse, especially in solitude.

I used to write a lot of poetry in my youth Celia..always wanting to change the world through words! Even sold a few and gave the money to my "causes."

Now I focus on prose and the lockdown is good for me in one way because I have few distractions. The weather in Perth is wonderful for sitting outside and writing!

LOL     very cute and clever!

Today I had an email from a friend in the UK, she has sent me a great poem, I have had to reply and ask if I can use it here!  It is very apt.  I think her daugher wrote it so I had better get permission to post it if she lets me!

Shall wait for the reply!

A short poem to lift your spirits -mainly for the girls.

I'm normally a social girl
I love to meet my mates
But lately with the virus here
We can't go out the gates.

You see, we are the 'oldies' now
We need to stay inside
If they haven't seen us for a while
They'll think we've upped and died.

They'll never know the things we did
Before we got this old
There wasn't any Facebook
So not everything was told.

We may seem sweet old ladies
Who would never be uncouth
But we grew up in the 60s -
If you only knew the truth!

There was sex and drugs and rock 'n roll
The pill and miniskirts
We smoked, we drank, we partied
And were quite outrageous flirts.

Then we settled down, got married
And turned into someone's mum,
Somebody's wife, then nana,
Who on earth did we become?

We didn't mind the change of pace
Because our lives were full
But to bury us before we're dead
Is like a red rag to a bull!

So here you find me stuck inside
For 4 weeks, maybe more
I finally found myself again
Then I had to close the door!

It didnt really bother me
I'd while away the hour
I'd bake for all the family
But I've got no bloody flour!

Now Netflix is just wonderful
I like a gutsy thriller
I'm swooning over Idris
Or some random sexy killer.

At least I've got a stash of booze
For when I'm being idle
There's wine and whiskey,  even gin
If I'm feeling suicidal!

So let's all drink to lockdown
To recovery and health
And hope this bloody virus
Doesn't decimate our wealth.

We'll all get through the crisis
And be back to join our mates
Just hoping I'm not far too wide
To fit through the flaming gates!

Love the poem and the picture Celia..thank you!

Lockdown is a good time to practice "paying it forward."

I am hoping 'Lockdown' will make some parents think of their offspring and what has been lacking in the family home, like discipline and hugs and explanations. So the child doesn't have such a free hand anymore. Perhaps this has a lot to do with the way our society has so many children appearing in the Childrens Court!

Quality time with parents and children I am hoping for now.

They, the children have not had the guidance that our own parents gave us.

Nothing like time to observe ones children at home now!

Also what is going to happen with shared custody?

    I wonder how many parents have played with their children, I don't mean sport!  Riding on Dad's shoulders and Mum teaching how to bake a cake to both son and daughter, is this a thing of the past?  Free Animated Parents, Download Free Clip Art, Free Clip Art on ...

Wouldn't that be wonderful! I honestly believe a lot of good will come from this lockdown Celia.

Here's a nice story...

"I was mowing the lawn yesterday and it was getting quite hot," Bill Hardman told 9News.

"And all of a sudden this great, big police van pulled alongside, and I was thinking 'what the hell does he want?'

"It was a shock. It was a shock for some of the neighbours too because they were out here having a look, wondering what the police were doing."

But in an act of kindness, the two officers simply offered to finish off the job.

That is a very touching story Sophie, good for them!

Wish they would come and mow our handkerchief lawn!

I like the idea about adopting a senior, but would they be allowed inside the house I wonder?

What a lovely idea Celia..according to this, I believe you can allow one other person in your house..however..it's good to double check:

"Western Australia – Yes. The way WA is enforcing the two-person law means households are allowed to have one guest at a time. You will not be permitted to travel between the nine WA regions unless it is on “compassionate grounds”.

Yesterday, I had a neighbour over..we sat at opposite ends of the courtyard and had a lovely loud conversation!

Ecclesiastes 3:1-8

To every thing there is a season,
and a time to every purpose under the heaven:
A time to be born, a time to die;
a time to plant, and a time to pluck up that which is planted;
A time to kill, and a time to heal;
a time to break down, and a time to build up;
A time to weep, and a time to laugh;
a time to mourn, and a time to dance;
A time to cast away stones, and a time to gather stones together;
a time to embrace, and a time to refrain from embracing;
A time to get, and a time to lose;
a time to keep, and a time to cast away;
A time to rend, and a time to sew;
a time to keep silence, and a time to speak;
A time to love, and a time to hate;
A time of war, and a time of peace.

Well WA is now an “Island within an Island”… fortunately, the only island hopper and border crosser allowed is the Easter Bunny who has been granted an “eggs-emption” by the Premier of WA…

Well I’m off yet again. Lots to get sorted. Keep safe and hope you all come out well at the end of the Covid 19 rampage.

Goodbye and have a great Easter celebration!

LOL  hope  it’s permanent this time! I made two attempts to post a couple of days ago but when I saw the spammers and all the depressing Covid 19 threads, I changed my mind. Have fun with the renovations plenty of time and lots of out of work tradies about and Happy Easter!

Nothing is "permanent" dahling!

I see a bit of Metamorphosis has taken place!

Enjoy your time away Sophie.

Do you mean the disappearance of my little lovebirds Celia?

It's one of my favourite avatars and am using it elsewhere!

Not really, but now that you mention it I do enjoy the changes in the Avatars.

The male shadows are so boring.

Well..you’ve got me puzzled then Celia. If you mean Ray’s change of username..I believe he is worried about his family..they are in Lucca and he was brought up there. I am not Ray or Lucca by the way…I am woman!

Is this the way to go..or..just wishful thinking!

It's wonderful that Passover coincides with Easter!

When she noticed crowds of older men and women forced to queue outside pharmacies and stores for three to four hours in order to buy a protective face mask, Singapore resident Jennifer Le decided to take matters into her own hands.

The Vietnamese national ordered masks online, and gave them out for free at the city's Sengkang station. "It doesn't matter if you're Vietnamese, Singaporean or Thai," she told YouTube channel Our Grandfather Story. "We may be different in nationalities, but we're all just people."
