Fluzone High-Dose Quadrivalent

A new flu vaccine offering protection against four strains of the virus is now available in Australia.

The high dose influenza vaccine, called Fluzone, has four times the antigens of a standard vaccine and covers four different strains.

It is available via prescription to people over the age of 60 for $65.

$65 seems a bit rich especially if you have to pay a GP for a prescription.

Guess it depends on how much you value your health and if you can afford to pay.

Last years flu shot was only $20 and you did not need a GP prescription.

Makes one wonder when things change from day to day -- mixed messages we have had since this COVID-- I have had both shots but the Dr has not come to give me the booster -- I do have suspicions with the darn lot I have heard a few have had bad reactions to the booster?

PlanB

Atagi recommends that the Booster Covid vaccine and the Influenza vaccine can be done together.

I've had 2 Moderna shots and also Moderna Booster shot, so now I have to wait until my 4 months are up to get my Winter Covid Vaccine which will not be until 2nd of June.

Hence I will be having my Influenza Vaccine soon, unfortunately we only have Fluad Quad available in our area, where my preference would be Fluzone High Dose Quad.

I got my Fluad Quad Vaccine this evening from my chemist .... cost me $14.95,

.... barely felt the needle go in and so far I have no side effects.

Oh!! I did spend another $20 at the chemist as I had to hang about for 15 minutes after the jab so I would not get an allergic response.

Just checked on my neighbour who had Afluria Quad on the 6th Apr and she no longer has a sore arm or any other symptoms.

I continue to have no side effects.

PlanB... the booster vaccine is the same vaccine you had for the first and second doses, so if you had no adverse reactions with those, you will be all right with the booster :)

Whichever vaccinne you decide on please remember Vaccines take 2 weeks to build immunity in the body

and as our our boarders are open the experts say we are heading for a bout of early influenza.
