Filthy supermarkets BUT ALDI PASSED WITH FLYING COLOURS :)

Did any of you see the news last night and the absolute
filth re vermin excrement and rotting food and out of date food
piled up under counters and out the back where foods are stored?
in our supposedly best Supermarkets?
..
It is not just a bit untidy but downright dangerous as it was said there
have been rodent deposits around the fresh products. Horrible
to say the least and our kids and grandkids deserve better than this?
..
Peter and I got very sick one Christmas after eating prawns and we
were told when someone buys something and instead of taking
it to the checkout leave it on shelves so when the staff see it they
just put it back in the deep freeze BUT how defrosted was it?
or even rotten before it was put back in to be re frozen.
...
They could not fault the cleanliness of Aldi and one staff person said
"of course you could not fault the cleanliness of Aldi as the whole
place is cleaned thoroughly EVERY night after closing".
..
psst my friend KFC I am NOT just getting on my
"Cleanliness high horse" here, it is serious life threatening stuff.
Have a day to remember with joy folks
Phyl.

Seggie. Hello to all, especially Phyl. Yes, Phyl., I did see the program and I know personally of a friend who bought prawns at a supermarket (no, definitely not Aldi's) and was extremely sick. Sometimes one cannot taste something that is even a little bit off and I will never ever eat oysters again. I haven't really looked carefully at supermarket shelves or bent down (bit of a problem these days) to see if it's clean under the fruit/vegie./food stalls but I'll be checking out as best I can if I have to go to other supermarkets. I've seen food left anywhere in THOSE supermarkets and if it's perishable, I take it to a register and now I wonder if it is thrown out or just placed back again?

Phyl, I agree completely. We have very high expectations of those who handle our food and especially the big chains who can afford the resources to get it right. They market heavily on their cleanliness, freshness and their "caring" for the customers and families. Reports like this reveal them for the money hungry charlatans that they are.

Well done Aldi and may their fortunes rise in this country for the benefits they give to the great silent majority - the Aussie "battlers".

German-based Aldi, the world's seventh-biggest retailer is privately owned, very secretive, and prides itself on very low prices -- made possible by rudimentary stores, no marketing and few staff.

While competition is good it does tend to force out the smaller independant retailers and so we end up with Coles, Woolworths, Aldi & IGA (Metcash of South Africa owns the IGA chain of franchised supermarkets)

Multinationals are taking over our groceries.

HI

when Woolworths in Noarlunga Centre milk fridges was so dirty ,I rang the council and ask for the health inspector to go and inspect the fridges, and they did and Woolworth got a few hours to clean it up.

also Woolworth in Christies Beach SA I ring them and tell them to clean up or I will bring the health inspector down, they are on there last warning from me,if not kept clean I will set things in motion
