Feeling a bit toey

A bull rider who lost his thumb in a riding accident has had his big toe removed and sewn to his hand as a replacement.

Zac Mitchell lost his thumb after a bull kicked his hand against a fence on a remote property in Western Australia in April.

He tried storing his thumb on ice among cold beers, but the digit was unable to be saved, despite two operations.

It was a Sydney surgeon that suggested removing his toe and was able to complete the surgery. Remarkably Mr Mitchell said losing his big toe hasn’t affected his walking.
