Hello and Thanks For A Great Wealth Of Information;

I am a Pensioner (Not That I Want To Be) but work environment all my life has left me with C O P D and I rely on oxygen and medication to keep me going, but it worries me when the government hands out this amount of money to so many people hoping they will spend it to keep the economy going.

I just wonder how many are going to spend it the wrong way by going to there local gaming venue and hoping for that one big payout that will probably never come their way.

Instead of spending it on necessary items like food and a luxury item for themselves or just waste it on unnecessary items such as alcohol and cigarettes.

I fear they will spend it but will it be on the right things.

Unfortunately, there is no indication that prices and costs will not come down for everyday items, and when the govt brings in the ETS, as they say they still intend to do, costs will escalate even further, I think.

So I hope with you that people think carefully before spending up big.

Commendable comments I agree but people will spend it on what ever takes their fancy.............In many cases Its unlikely to stimulate tjhe economy in the direction that our idiotic Prime Minister thinks that it will ............and thanks to Mr. Howard and Costello that the money is there in the first place .............I predict that some Seniors will splurge it on having a good time and may I say ........." And So They Should ".

Well he did sell off Telstra etc to get the money--and after all it was ours--NOT his to sell--every one could have a bit extra money if they sold of the furniture and all their assets
