NEW Australian-born royal, Crown Princess Mary wowed gathered crowds this week - yet again - as she stepped out in style to open Denmark's annual flower festival (pictured). Ralph Lauren was the designer of choice for the satorially-savvy princess, who accessorised her simple, elegant look with a wide brimmed-straw hat and signature demure jewellery.

Blooming Cactus Flower Timelapses

http://www.boredpanda.com/blooming-cactus-flower-timelapse-echinopsis-freak/

Stunning Echinopsis cactus flowers blooming in this incredible time-lapse. The process happens overnight, and the flowers last for only a day, with a peak period occurring for a mere hour or two.

Another video by Greg Krehel, showcasing his collection, “The evening when it looks like a plant's flowers are about to bloom, I bring it indoors to image. Most of the clips in this montage show approximately 8 hours of change as the flowers open and bloom.”

They are amazing I love their colours, do they flower only once a year?

Thanks RnR -  Those cactus flowering pictures are stunning. Who would think something so pokey and dull looking can produce such beautiful flowers. Somebody said they look like " little paper flowers".

A new flower species recognises the work of NSW governors' partners

A new species of rose, The Governor's Wife, has been planted in the grounds of NSW Government House to recognise the women who have stood behind the State's governors.

Full ABC story.

Very pretty  I love the colour combination, but it is such a small flower. Wonder if it has a fragrance, I didn't see it mentioned.

I've had a blitz on snails, have not been out looking for the pests for about 4 months and boy have they had a field day, although we have used lots of snail pellets I think they are wise to them now.

The tree next door  [London Plain] which I keep mentioning drops it's leaves and we rake most up, but some we left for mulch, which we had not as the snails love them for breeding on. Must have got about 50 - 60 of the little pests last night.

All the best Attila.

Thanks RnR!

yes nothing like a size Ten boot, I hate them....I had never seen so many snails out the front.  I put some in a bucket yesterday to show hubby and it is amazing how quickly they can climb to the top of the bucket!  LOL

GOOD MORNING EVERYONE - WELCOME TO SPRING. *** {:-)

Hi Hola.

Well that is what we are meant to be having, but there are black clouds out there and they forecast rain. We have had all the granite paving lifted and relayed, now we have to wait for the guys to come back and finish once the granite has dried off, it is a pain as all the plant pots are sitting on the lawn for over a week now.  I hate to think what they are doing to the grass.

I prunned the roses and they are shooting like crazy, the trees are all in buds as is the wisteria.

Image result for wisteria  ours is only young, and I fed it some Pot Ash yesterday, so I hope the vine blooms soon.

That Wisteria looks absolutely lovely. At our old home I had a pergola with lattice on both sides. I had Purple, Pink and White Wisteria growing over it and the perfume was beautiful. In my area there is a Wisteria Fete over the next 2 weekends. I'm going along to see what's on special.

Toowoomba Carnival of Flowers 15-24 September 2017

Unfortunately, this year with our unseasonal hot dry weather up here, many flowers are blooming early.

Council horticulturalist Karl Grams said the cold mornings and warm days are throwing the plants out of whack. Their growth has been accelerated, forcing gardeners to pinch off their buds this week to prevent a mass blooming.

"Its quite a tedious job," Mr Grams said. "You hold the plants back, so hopefully the next bloom will be just perfect for September 15, when the big day comes along. What would be welcome now is some beautiful rain because it is very dry, but mother nature has the last word, doesn't she?"

ooooh!  pretty pretty....looks lovely RnR

Has anyone had experience with this plant please?

Iresine Herbstii  A striking plant with bright purple-pink foliage which creates great contrast to green foliage in the garden.

If anyone needs a creeper to grow over a stump, we grew this over an old Palm tree that step son cut off for us.  It grows so well I mixed it with Jasmine for the fragrance as Lady Di has no scent.
