escorted travel

Seggie. Re escorted travel. Depending on your age, 1-2 night stays are OK with Insight
but if one is a wee bit older, I would think it's too hard. I remember travelling with Insight,
how hard it was, getting your case ready to put in the hall by 6.30 a.m. on the 1 night
stopovers. The two nights were fine but then, we were much younger then. Far better
if you can find someone who has rented a room near Rome for a week/two weeks depending
on your budget, hiring a car and doing your own thing. I know of people who have done
this and said it's the only way to go. Remember though what is advertised in brochures
isn't exactly what you get. The fleas were jumping all over the floor in a unit we booked
from Australia. Guess who left about 4 a.m. after we'd used up the required rent paid
in advance? I could tell you stories of our travels years ago, some very very funny ones
like the time my husband put our icecream wrappers in a 'litter' bin. This huge man
came over to us and told him he should have found an empty litter bin. Didn't my husband
realise the bin was full? To say he was unpleasant is putting it mildly. I suddenly became 10 foot tall. No one was going to talk to my husband this way. Oh dear. I said we were being
tidy and we never throw things on the ground. This made no different at all. In the end, I asked
him did he get out of the wrong side of the bed? When I look back, I certainly wouldn't do it nowadays otherwise you never know what may have happened. I even patted this man
on the arm and said 'there, there, all will be right tomorrow'. My sense of humour has
got me into trouble at times. Just as well I've settled down somewhat. Love to all.

Speaking for myself, I have tried the bus tour a couple of times & hated it.

There is either too little or too much time every time they turn off the motor.

If you use Easy Jet or Euro Pass (make sure you buy your ticket before you

get to Europe. 1/2 price or less) it works out a lot cheaper than the escorted

coach. Then hire a car in each location. If you are going for 6 weeks or more,

you can purchase a brand new car with a buy back agreement & you will have

complete freedom & the cheapest mode of transport available. If you do

some preplanning & buy your accommodation before leaving Australia,

you can get fantastic deals through Companies like Hotel Club Rewards

& others. Good luck.
