EMAIL A POLITICIAN

I have today sent the following email to Julia Gillard with a copy to her opposite number, Julie Bishop. I think it is time we stopped putting up with the bu** s**t that is going on in our Government , and emailed them directly every time something annoys us. After all, they are public servants, which I am given to believe means that they serve the public - US.

"IDear Madam

Having watched and listened to question time today, I am tired of hearing what the opposition didn’t do during their 12 years in office, as an excuse for Labor doing precious little now. Does it occur to you that maybe the Australian population was aware of what the then government didn’t do, and voted accordingly at the last election. Many are now regretting that decision, hence the massive turnaround occurring in State elections.

From a personal point of view, maybe retiree’s income should be indexed against politician’s incomes. After all the majority of us worked considerably longer hours than politicians, were not able to voluntarily retire early and receive a pension, and if we lost our job and found another, there was no way the government was going to give us a pension. The majority of us actually produced something of benefit to all Australians from our endeavors, and if we lost our job through an inadequate performance we certainly did not receive any residual perks, as do our outgoing Prime Ministers.

Stop trying to be a stand-up comedian. This message goes to all members of the house, because that’s not what THE TAXPAYERS are paying you for. Remember you are the elected representatives of the people of Australia and we deserve sensible answers to sensible questions. Wasting question time by point scoring is immature and irresponsible. Do the job you are being well paid to do.

But don't forget the Libs also set up the workers to loose what they worked for for many decades--with their "Work choices" thats what lost them the election.

No PLan B I hadn't forgotten Work Choices, I was only commenting on the fact that Labor will not acknowledge that the surplus they inherited has assisted with at least partially cushioning Australia from this current economic downturn. I suppose an honest politician is the ultimate oxymoron, but we can hope.

I have to admit to being uninformed about Work Choices, mainly because whenever I asked working people about it, I got a different viewpoint with many saying that the Unions actually ran a scare campaign in the lead-up to the elections. They also said that much of what was being said was supposition rather than fact. None of my children , who all work, felt that work choices was a problem, one is a nurse, one an electronics engineer, one a manager with a transport company and one a heavy machinery operator/foreman.
