Driving up fines

Theres one state that is not mucking around when it comes to seatbelt fines. The Queensland state government recently increased the maximum penalty for not wearing a seatbelt from $413 and three demerit points to a whopping $1078 and four demerit points. And if you have put your belt on, make sure you dont speed as the fines have gone up to $1653 depending on how much over the limit you drive.

Buckle up and slow down in the Sunshine state everyone, or it could be an expensive ride.

It still won't stop some idiots from doing the wrong thing. However, some will think it is revenue raising.

I applaud the latest decision made by the Queensland Government. I certainly do not regard it as revenue raising. If people do not adhere to existing laws, and not only endanger their own lives but others, they need to be heavily penalized!

I understand that some vehicles actually have a device fitted which enables you to stay under the speed limit and avoid all those nasty fines.

It's called a speedo!
