Downsizing and Moving

Moving from an old house, home for 35 years,  into a brand new house 400 kilometers away brings many challenges but worth it for the cooler climate, the closeness to family members and the benefits of a brand new house with no on-going maintenance issues.

Nevertheless some issues do arise. My number one query at the moment may seem minor, but what should I do about a new concrete garage floor which seems to shed dust? Does it need to be sealed?

Others Forum members may have encountered minor problems arising from brand new homes and may like to share advice on what and how to deal with them, that is the beauty of this forum we are all here to help each other.

Hi Vivity - My son is a painter and he recommends to Google -  CSW COATINGS, they sell concrete protection and will deliver throughout Australia.  Good luck on your new adventures.

Use a siliconate sealer from Bunnings

We had our garage sealed with an anti-slip product a few years ago. Wouldn't recommend the one we had (sorry, can't find detailed records) ... it's great anti-slip but extremely hard to clean and absorbs various stains including oil. Looks great though (minus stains) and no dust. As per pic.

Think we would have been better off cleaning with a Katcha or similar or getting someone in to do same.

BTW: This mob offer cleaning and sealing services in WA.

Thank you all for your suggestions and references - also reassuring to know that others have had a similar experience with garage cement floors. Guess one thing I had better not do is not damp  mop the inside wooden access passageway flooring until after I have vacuum removed all traces of cement dust! Big learning curve moving into a brand new house.

But Oh such fun Viv.  A new begining of the new venture.

Hey Phyl

nicw this see you posting again

Thank ya kindly sir :)
