...that so many of their number believe in psychics, paranormal and so on?

The women's 'zines have always been full of it (heh,heh, in more ways than one) and there is a rash of such shows on the Box, including PsychicTV and psychic detectives.

Not suggesting that any of it should be controlled by the Nanny State, freedom of choice and so on, but one would have thought that after years of positive discrimination for women in education (women are 2:1 in Uni courses), that superstitious stuff would be decreasing rather than increasing.  Also, alternative remedies and medicines are booming, despite Medicare and the ready availability of science based information on the Net and elsewhere.

Why is it so?
