Do we HAVE to have ALL posts about Politics or Climate Change?

I am a simple soul and enjoy all the posts other than the ones which are very big about things I cannot change (I am a senior citizen for god's sake so not many many years left to enjoy so I believe leaving a lot to those younger and in the work force as shouldn't they be the ones deciding all this? Why are we arguing or fighting amongst ourselves? Can't we just relax a little now and be a bit kinder also.

I enjoy the posts by Phyl and Toot2000.
and many others such as wise words from Dusty sick of Politics and Climate Change.
and many of the men do not go on too much about things maybe better left to our younger generation to worry about and us enjoy our retirement.

Two posts below by Toot who has admitted to be satisfied and living a happy life whereas The Big Val as I read back through some of her posts is ALWAYS going on and on about everything and everyone. Very sad really.
..
Is anyone happy on the pension
Making Vodka from sugar and water at home
Great posts in Hot Topics Toot.
..
It does not take a lot to give and take a little and if we all do not see eye to eye on everything just say what you want and allow others to say anything they want surely?
..
I hope with all my heart Admin. do not stop all posts as The Big Val wants and allows us just all Politics and Climate change as I, like Dusty, am fed up to the back teeth with both subjects. It dosn't matter which Party is in Office they are all of a similar vein of thinking but I would not want their job so not really complaining.

I enjoy being around people with a good outlook on life and a happy attitude and actually keep away from places and people who bring me down to their "unhappy attitudes about life" as there will always be problems but I do not for one come in here to be made miserable so enjoy any post which is uplifting. Just my point of view.

...

You have made some valid coments ..........I have posted on quite a few forums and only do so on one now ............this one ...........Its a happy place and I can not be bothered entering into heated discussions about serious topics .....but some of our members do

...

The forum is a public one and we can express our opinions and provided Admin are not upset by what we say we can continue to speak as we see fit

...

For any member to complain about another members input is not good and all they have to do is NOT to read what has been written ...........By complaining they are atempting to do the very thing that they do not want us to do ..........they wish to influence us and in a domineering way

...

I think that these people are naturally unfriendly people and maybe they should go and do something else ...................You are one of the many sensible and friendly people Yaretzi

No we don't, if you aren't interested, don't read the or participate in those topics. Start a new topic on something that interests you.

I understand what you are saying Yaretzi.

Maybe a solution would be to have a section just devoted to political issues.

That would be just for those interested in that sort of thing.

It could cover climate topics, boat people, elections and anything else political.

Then Hot Topics & General Discussion could be there for all other topics of interest / news that does not fall into the existing catarogies e.g. Dilemmas, Recipies etc.

That way anyone not interested in things like climate issues could steer clear of that section and discuss their feelings elsewhere.

I realize that things do get heated at times, but that is bound to happen when you discuss politics or religion.

Most political posts are under the Hot Topics heading and there are 10 other headings that should be enough to cover most other subjects. It is very easy to start another topic, Yaretzi. You could even start one on the subject of Fruit Quality.

That is helpful Keandha.

and you are right a topic on our fruit would be a good one to start.

A lot of people are saying the stoned fruit is tasteless this year. Maybe it has been in cold storage too long do you think?

I am really saddened to see our Aussie. oranges ground into the paddocks while much lesser quality is brought in. Our farmers must shake their heads in disgust and arn't they doing it tough these days.

And we must carry some of the blame because we buy the imported rubbish instead of leaving it on their greedy shelves to rot.... I no one purchased it, we would soon get our good stuff back, but I realise that is a forlorn hope... to save a few bob, we risk ruining our farmers livlihoods

I always buy a box of Australian oranges every 4 weeks or so for my daily juice, at $10 to$16 depending on time of year I reckon good value. Stone fruit shouldn't be in cold storage this time of the year. I'll let you know the quality when I start picking mine.

That is good value re the oranges Keandha. I also agree the stone fruit should not be in cold storage as it is probably a year old and as tasteless as drinking water. I do wonder why it is also so very bitter and even when it is over ripe not sweet.

I see you are a non conformist re not having to stick to a script lol and we can diverse as long as we are not rude.

Good for you. Isn't this a great place with lots of nice people.

we can diverse as long as we are not rude.

Can we make that a rule LOL

Nice post Yaretzi, and sometimes when we go off topic it brings up something new and exciting.

Yes I dislike that tasteless fruit from the big supermarkets also.

They have beautiful stone fruit in New zealand and the Avocados are so nice.

I just love fruit .............

We could have a spa party Clay and all sit around eating Gerry's mangoes.

They seem like fruit of the god's to me at the moment - I really do crave one each day.

At the Sunday market Peter was buying punnetts of silver beat etc. (we are eating some planted earlier already and just wonderful)

I spotted Parsley in little Punnetts so while Peter was not looking asked the man if I donated $2 to his stall would he give me the parsley for free? Took a minute or two to explain we would never buy parsley as we believe it has to be given as a gift? I can embarrass Peter at times u !O^O!

:-/ Dear Phyl you are priceless, keep it up girl!
