Do chickens lay different coloured eggs?

I was talking with my niece the other day and she was telling me they have bought 6 chickens which have started laying. She sent me a photo of one of the eggs and it had a green tinge to it. I asked her is the colour because she is feeding them spinach and she said no, that's the breed of the chicken. She said they also lay white, green and blue! I've never heard such a thing. Have you?

Hi Hola, found these pics ... some examples of different coloured eggs layed by different breeds.

RnR -  Thanks for all that information on the coloured eggs. I must admit I have only seen white and brown. Gee we learn something new every day.

LOL

This reminds me of a girl friend that has moved down to near Albany and has a lot of Chickens in all shapes and sizes!

She brought up some eggs for us a few months ago and yes they were all colours Hola.

I've just looked up about chickens and the different coloured eggs they lay = all very interesting.

interesting to see all the eggs,    i knew white and brown, of course,     i think the different colours may have something to do with what they are fed,

Hi there Cats - My niece said there are different breeds of chickens and they lay different coloured eggs, the shell that is, the yolks are still yellow.
