Did I hear right?

Just wondering if I heard it right. If I did, the NSW Government is planning to cut off the "off peak" service for hot water systems and charge them as the normal electricity charge. This is supposedly to encourage people to use solar power, or gas! What about the people who have no choice? The people who rent, or those who simply cannot afford to replace their hot water system?

I heard this too from a plumber friend--where did you hear it Bev ?

I googled it, and apparently Queensland are considering phasing out the off-peak discounts, but I couldn't find anything about NSW. You can bet that the other States will be watching closely and will follow suit . This will make living for seniors even more difficult. It's a sorry state of affairs when a community can be outraged about the culling of Kangaroos in the A.C.T. and yet the subtle culling of seniors is ignored. Many don't eat properly, can't heat their homes adequately, can't get speedy and relevant medical treatment and live way below the poverty line and a great majority of us feel we are now superfluous to requirements. A recent communication from a Federal Labout member in Canberra stated that "the Rudd Labor Government values the important contribution made to our community by older Australians and is committed to making sure seniors can make ends meet". We just have to survive until 2009 while they review a discuss submissions. I wonder how long they reviewed and dicussed the recent salary rise for senior politicians ! ! ! !

I just caught a glimpse of an interview with Morris Iemma on ABC TV, PlanB. Something to do with an agreement made with the power people when the grid is sold off.

I will see what I can find out and come back to you on it.
