Derek Chauvin trial:

Dr Andrew Baker told the court that the police pinning the 46-year-old Black man to the ground was “just more than Mr Floyd could take” by making it hard for him to breathe, causing stress hormones that worsened a heart condition and led to his death.

But the Hennepin county medical examiner did not support the evidence of other medical specialists who told the trial that Floyd was suffocated under Chauvin’s knee, on his neck for more than nine minutes as he was pinned to the ground by him and two other police officers.

“In my opinion, the law enforcement subdual, restraint and neck compression was just more than Mr Floyd could take, by virtue of those heart conditions,” he said.

Baker said that “the stress of that interaction tipped him over the edge” because Floyd had heart disease and used illicit drugs.

Baker classified the death as a homicide, which he said in a medical context meant that it resulted from the actions of a person or persons but did not imply any criminal action.

This trial is getting crazy, how is the jury supposed to come to a decision when experts like this man, don't agree.

1 . This is not a BLM trial. It's a trial about whether a policeman acted unlawfully.

2. Opinion is not evidence. To date there has been little factual evidence to support an unlawful act proven beyond resonable doubt. Ultimately the jury will decide.

3. Far too much emotion being displayed, and little reason. Compounded by the mainstream media and vested interests.

The jury has just retired after making the claim that he died because he was addicted to drugs and had a heart problem.  To me, it's as plain as the nose on your face - he killed him.

It appears that people from other countries who agree that the officer is guilty must have been standing next to George on the ground and the police beside him, if not then those people being opprobrious from a distance should cease perporting to be judgemental.

If the cop had not knelt on his neck for 9 minutes, would he have died?

Racially motivated murder

Remember the OJ case, if the outcome of this trial is the same, I hate to think what will happen.

"Prosecutors had said Mr. Floyd died of asphyxia, appearing to divert from the ruling of the county medical examiner who performed an autopsy on Mr. Floyd and said that he had died of “cardiopulmonary arrest.” That term, prosecutors have said, is applicable to any death because it simply means that a person’s heart and lungs have stopped.

Eric J. Nelson, Mr. Chauvin’s lawyer, had suggested that Mr. Floyd’s death was caused in part by his underlying heart disease and the fentanyl and methamphetamine that were found in his system. In response to questions from Mr. Nelson, Dr. Wankhede Langenfeld agreed that many different things — including taking fentanyl and methamphetamine — could cause a death that would still be considered asphyxiation."

I certainly hope that justice gets done in regards to the policeman who only carried out his duties

I was under the impression that is someone put pressure on the side of your neck it would stop the blood flow to your head and result in unconciousness; not necessarily stop you breathing.

The decision to convict or acquit Mr Chauvin of murder, or the lesser charge of manslaughter, now lies with 12 jurors — six white people and six people who are black or multiracial………….

He looks defiant, he'll probably be in protective custody but getting to him eventually is likely.

Apparently, ahead of his sentencing in eight weeks, Chauvin was placed on suicide watch in Minnesota's only maximum security prison, MCF-Oak Park Heights and is being closely watched by guards to ensure his safety, not just as a suicide risk, but also from other inmates with violent criminal histories, many of whom resent law enforcement.

IMO it was 1st-degree murder -- this policeman had his knee on Floyd's neck for over 9 mins -- he could have stopped and was pleaded with but CHOOSE to continue -- it was outright MURDER

Dr. David Fowler is a retired forensic pathologist and former chief medical examiner of the state of Maryland.

Now that the trial is over, the American medical community has turned on Dr. Fowler after being alarmed by his testimonies during the four-week legal process.

Dr. David Fowler, a retired forensic pathologist and former chief medical examiner of the state of Maryland, was put on the witness stand as a medical expert by Chauvin’s defence lawyer, Eric Nelson.

In court he said Mr Floyd’s death was caused by underlying health conditions and illegal drugs — conclusions that contradicted those of medical experts introduced by the prosecution.

Washington, D.C.’s former chief medical examiner Dr. Roger Mitchell Jr., wrote an open letter calling for investigations into Dr. Fowler’s medical license, as well as a review of the Maryland medical examiner’s office under Dr. Fowler’s leadership. At least 458 physicians across the USA have signed the letter.

It does not alter the facts that Floyd would not have died then if the cop had not lent on his neck for over 9 minutes

Agree PB, they are now after this so-called expert who gave false evidence.  I hope he loses his licence.

Yes Toot very sad the way they treat the black races --  after THEY were the ones that took them there as slaves so many years ago --

They do much the same here -- very sad - makes one ashamed to be part of the white race
