Where is everyone? I hope we havn't been undone by last weeks fiasco. A mystery indeed.

Latest from me, apparently there was a discussion on TV a day or so ago involving the Dept. of Housing.
The information I was given is that the Dept of Housing is going to fit Air Conditioning into their properties where there is a tenant over 75yrs of age. Their reasoning being that this section of their tenants are more vulnerable to heat and unable to meet costs of cooling.
If this is correct it will be boon to seniors who are tenants.
I myself am more or less a swinging voter (I tend to pick the party I think can handle the job at the particular point in time), But I do feel the present government has done a lot for pensioners, I know I am more comfortable now than I was a couple of years ago.

What terrific news for oldies over 70 Lolih getting air conditioning, and good on you being more comfortable

with the Labour Party. I know we are very happy on the Age pension and wonder why people would

complain as we are all very well looked after we feel. We believe the Labour Party is for the worker

and also the old age pensioners which is a good thing. We are trully a lucky lot here in Australia as

not every Country does look after the over 60's and many kids have to look after their parents.

So do they help them with the cost of running the aircon too? My Grandmother had a good idea when it was hot - she would sit with a wet towel draped over her. It works very well.Old-fashioned economy and kinder to the environment.

But Miss J are you able to do the same or do you have an efficient AC system in your home ..........I know that I do .and I am happy to pay the costs to run it also.............clay

Clay - yes, I have done it and still do when the nights are excessively hot, I lie on the bed with a damp towel over me.It really works very effectively.

And no, I don't have aircon, don't believe in it and never will, as it guzzles power and is bad for the environment. I don't even like to run a fan. My power bill is quite small....
