Death of AFL Coach

Like everyone else I was very upset at the death of the Crows coach...BUT ...here in the 'west" we are getting (in my opinion) far too much media coverage of this.

The papers are full of it today;  it is leading the evening news every night.

Enough is enough as far as I am concerned;  how do other feel?

I agree that it is really used to the full, by the newspapers, the headlines are pushing this tragedy, so the papers can profit. Their have been terrible tragedies before, but never blown up like this one.

The guy's son is mentally unstable and should not have in society untreated....it will be interesting to see what happens to him.

Friday 3rd at 1pm, xtra editon of advertisr just to talk about crows coach pasing away.

profeteering.

The media need to be careful;   I remember when the wife of Lloyd Raney (here in Perth) was killed (the hubby was main suspect).   It was on and on all over the newspapers and there was talk of him not getting  a fair trail because of a lot of what was said in the media.  Eventually he was granted a trial by Judge alone.

He was eventually found not guilty but this case is far from over as there is now a huge investigation about to start which is going to cost the taxpayers millions I would assume as they are calling in experts from overseas ete etc.

....once again a mega overblown "media-frenzy" ...regarding a families tragic circumstances!  Sat. and Sunday papers designated a minimum of 10-12 pages per paper!  Total "over-kill" IMO.

There are hundreds of families that suffer siimilar circumstances throughout the year and just get a couple of days media attention! (if that...)  This - like many other families - was obviously not the "perfect" family ... as no-one - no-one -  knows what really goes on "behind closed doors"!!

Perhaps the reason the son was hospitalised for "mental instability/assessment" so quickly after the murder - could possibly have been an inititial "cover-up" to try to prevent further "embarrassment" to such a high profile family... and their son's unfortunate "druggie/ice" addiction/dependency?

According to the papers today the majority of neighbours knew about the "problems" within the Walsh home for many weeks!  Very sad!

They think the young lad was on "ice" when he attaked the father. OK, so we don't know where our kids are half the time, but kids look up to their dads and if the dad is not around a lot of the time, many turn to drugs, not all, but many who feel neglected. Hope the law has some compassion for this kid

'young lad' ???? ..... 'kid'

Really

Cy Walsh is 26-year-old

26yr old kid? poor thing, yeah kids look up to their dads, even try to copy them, if a happy relationship, otherwise go haywire and can be open to all types of predators.

My father was always at work.

Silly statement Ray.

I never took drugs in my life. I hope they throw the book at this useless piece of humanity.

Tend to agree Davey.

My old man was nowhere to be seen.

I take some Panadol occasionally. I can probably blame him for that.

SD

The Adelaide Advertiser is reporting that a link is being investigated by police to ice and the possibility that the drug played a role in Phil Walsh's murder.

I've spoken to the police this morning. They've provided a brief statement, saying detectives have found nothing to suggest ice was a factor. However, as the investigation is in its infancy, it's unknown what police will discover as the investigation progresses.

Obviously, Phil Walsh's son Cy Walsh has been charged with murder. He's been in hospital, getting a psychiatric assessment.

Radish

I agree enough is enough and hope it does not continue along the Hughes cricketer path. Of course the difference there was Phil died as a result of playing his sport while Walsh was the victim of domestic violence.
