COVID Jab

So the prime minister is now threatening us older people by telling us we can have AstraZeneca only!

Are we not allowed to have the choice of what we put in our bodies?

Well Morrison ... the next federal election counting of votes will be interesting won't it ????????

I think a lot of you are missing the point. The problem older Australians are facing is the lack of choice  of vaccines. Half of the adult population have a choice and the other half no choice. Over 60s are being bullied into taking taking a vaccine that they have no faith in and are being asked to sign away their rights. If the it was their decision on what vaccine they have I am sure they would be happy to have the vaccine and sign away their rights. 90% of the deaths from Covid are people over 60 and their lives matter. I think if the Government do not give the older the same choice as every other Australian they could be facing a future class action

I had both vaccinations of AZ and didn't feel like I was signing away my rights. Do you think most people over 60 feel like they're signing away their rights or are you part of a minority?

I agree with you Star.

Had my second AZ last night at 5pm and no reaction whatever.

seriously, the government facing a class action for what, not giving a choice? Have a look at how often the government is successfully litigated against in a class action. There will be no class action, which actually leaves you with choices – wait behind the queue of kids for Pfizer or Moderna, wait until supply of another vaccine becomes available, take AZ or go unvaxxed and let nature take its course.

One thing that posters here have conveniently 'forgotten' or rather are ignoring is the very latest research carried out to determine the efficacy and longevity of both the Pfizer and the AZ vaccine.

Despite the best attempts to denigrate the AZ vaccine, it is actually showing better efficacy and longevity than Pfizer. Both lose immunity efficacy over time (at least measurable antibodies induced by vaccination) but AZ loses at a slower rate which means antibodies are higher for longer than with Pfizer. This is a good outcome.

But the fact that immunity wanes over time is the very reason why there are now two bits of advocacy going on around the world. The first is for a general booster shot for everyone at about 6-8 months after the original second dose. This places in much the same basket as the annual flu shot. The other is for a third dose of vaccine about 6-8 weeks after the second dose for people who are immune-compromised or those who do not mount a strong immune response. These are not to be confused or conflated. They are very different scenarios. The WHO is warning against the booster shot for all, but generally supports a third dose for those who have certain underlying conditions. Watch this space, there is more to come.

Of course, there is more research to do involving the B and T cells which are important to immunity and longevity of producing an immune response when challenged and this will be forthcoming later.

True! This is going to haunt us for many years to come, one way or another.

I'm getting a little fed-up when I hear these Politicans saying every morning at 11 a.m., how many have had the jab, how  many have ended up in hospital and in  ICU and on ventilators and have died with underlining conditions. If they had had the jab, in the first place, maybe they would still be alive with their underlining conditions. It was Covid-19 that killed them.  Most in ICU never had the jab. Please people get out  and have your vaccines NOW!

Hola

In yesterdays 9 death cases 3 people were fully vaccinated ,they did not say with what ???

3 people had one jab but once again did not say with what ???

                                             3 people were unvaccinated.

They all had underlying conditions

Good news is that gladys promised not to have daily 11am episodes

The other problem as I see it is that it may be OK to get vaccinated if you are in Sydney or out West but the availibility is not present in other rural areas as the vaccines were taken to supply to the Sydney areas ...

If I was unvaccinated, I would be scared stiff.

Yes I can understand that when you see the overcrowding at the Sydney beaches

People are seen at Bondi beach, in Sydney, Saturday, September 11, 2021.

Prime Minister Scott Morrison says an additional 1 million doses of the Moderna COVID vaccine will arrive from the EU next weekend.
