Congratulations.

To those becoming Australian Citizens today. May your life
and Australia come up to your expectations.

I also congratulate those accepting Awards today. Good on them
all, but I also applaud many many many people today who do so many
great things and in many cases keep our Country going as without
Volunteers and Carers we would be in a very sorry place.

I do hope people drive safely and people enjoying a drink at the barbecue
walk home or have a non drinker drive. Life is precious
lets hope we do not lose even one on this Australia Day due to
people behaving badly.

Happy Australia Day.

Good post Yaretzi. Today is an exciting day for many becoming Aussies.

and also for those receiving Awards.

I certainly do agree there are many people (even I alone know of a few)

who are very deserving of an Award as some especially Grandparents

rearing their Grandchildren and older and younger people caring for

people with disabilities and even many people with disabilities themselves

deserve a medal for the way they struggle with every day tasks without

a lot of money which makes everything so difficult.

Good point re Volunteers also, as I wonder what Hospitals would do along

with opportunity shops and drivers who drive people all over the place

free of charge. The list of unpaid people especially Seniors who give so

generously of their time is long. I do wonder what homebound unable to

cook for themselves or even get themselves meals (and the company and

security of a Meals on Wheels Person/s coming in and seeing they

are o.k.) would do? Would the Government have to step in and make a paid

position? but I would think many could die waiting for their meal :(

I also wish folks a joyful Day this Australia Day 2010.

All the best

Phyl.
