Coles recalls packets of baby spinach; Kinder chocolate factory shut down

Coles is recalling packets of baby spinach sold in some supermarkets due to potential salmonella contamination.

The 60g, 120g and 280g packets have been available for sale since 4 April.

They were sold in Coles supermarkets, Coles Local and through Coles online in Queensland, the ACT and NSW, but not in stores in Lavington, Deniliquin and Albury.

Government agency Food Standards Australia and New Zealand says the recall is due to potential salmonella contamination.

"Consumers should not eat this product and should return the product to the place of purchase for a full refund," the agency says.

The affected packets have various use-by dates:

60g – 13 April 22

120g –13 April 22 and 14 April 22

280g – 13 April 22 and 14 April 22

Food Standards says if you're concerned about your health, you should seek medical advice.

Salmonella poisoning symptoms include: fever, headache, diarrhoea, abdominal pain, nausea and vomiting. Symptoms usually start between six and 72 hours after the contaminated food is eaten.
