Hi Phyl my favourite tree of all is the one we call the Christmas tree. The beautiful orange colour of this tree when it is in flower makes the bush look so pretty. I do not know the offical name but we have always known it as the Christmas tree as that is when it blooms. The root system is like the mushroom and travells underground and can pop up with a sappling anywhere. Not sure if they are native to W.A

Sounds lovely Sandra. I tried to Google it but maybe not called The Christmas Tree?

I love trees. Autumn and Spring are wonderful Seasons to see the trees change and I enjoy both

every year.

Hello Phyl, just found it on the net lovely picture of it. I just put in west australian christmas tree and found it. The real name is nuytsia floribunda .We are so very lucky in Australia as we have so many beautiful flowering native plants and trees. Cheers Sandra

Just googled Sandra and see it in the red and orange/yellow. I see why you love it.

Looks like it would attract birds and so beautiful. What an addition to any garden.

Thank you,

Phyl.

My favorite Tree is the jacaranda tree I like its beautiful purple flowers in summer.

The tree I liked as a child was the castor oil tree.We had some growing when I was growing up on the farm in Moulamein on the Edward river.I don't see any growing these days, they must be out of favor with gardeners or maybe just a farm tree?

A few years ago I saw a photograph of a tree from Perth. It was beautiful, but not all that big. I thought maybe 25 to 30 foot, covered in brilliant deep red flowers that looked a little like giant roses. Would anybody be able to recognise it from that poor description? I would love to know what it was & whether a baby could be bought in the Eastern States?

Hi Zapot nice to see you posting. I am with you re the

Jacandra Tree. It is absolutely wonderful. I have never

seen a Castor Oil Tree so I also Googled that. and it

is a beauty. How lucky we are to be able to appreciate

trees and flowers and Nature in general. It is strange

similar to home decorating and styles, certain plants

go out of style. We love our garden and love many

Olde World trees and shrubs and especially old fashioned

roses.

All the very best and please keep posting.

Phyl.

Sounds amazing Ken. I do not know of it but Dusty or Westozzi will.

Give a prize to whomever comes up with it. Cyber of course.

I know I would love it, as I adore the big red flowering gum trees .

They grow around 20ft high. I love Rhododendrons probably called a bush

but they grow into a big tree with huge bunches of red flowers.

For real depth of colour I dont think there is much better than the crimson bouganvillia, we have areas where they cover fences and they are just incredible, its a terrible bush once it gets out of control but the colour is just so magnificent. We have a suburb outside of Fremantle called Applecross that has streets lined with Jacaranda trees and when they shed their petals the streests look like they have been carpeted. Its real delight to see. I shall endeavour to locate your tree Innes the rose type flower has me a bit mystified but I shall do a search.

The WA Red Flowering Gum might fill the bill innes but Im not sure it has the colour depth you suggest.

Mine would be the Poinciana tree, I just wish I had lanted on here when I moved here love the shape of them--although I do have a wonderful Leopard wood and that also has a lovely shape

Is the Poinciana like the red Poincetta plant Jane. Does it have red leaves/flowers

er you sure you did not make up a "Leopard Wood" Just joking but I have never heard of that.

Very interesting.

If one ordered a cyber tree then surely it would be one that didnt grow too tall to be out of reach and the beautiful flowers were all the lovely ladies that post messages on about seniors.

The poincana tree has wonder coral red flowers (can have yellow) and wonder bright gree leaves----I also love the Fire wheel tree--I have one but it has not flowed as yet I also have a flame tree and they look wonderful with the Jacaranda and flower at the same time.
