Sometimes nice things happen.

Today Peter and I were looking for 4 dark brown queen size sheets to put over our new recliner chairs - yes our two cats have almost stripped the leather from our Jason Recliners we bought a couple of years ago so we are going to have them recovered - bad cats :(

..

We found three sheets (on special I might add) so decided to get them after talking to a really elderly lovely lady who was buying another colour and  we were wandering around the shop for about 20 minutes when we heard this yelling and the dear lady was trying to get around the shop on her walker SO SO excited as she had found one more Queen size brown sheet It made her day and sure made ours.

I call this season pissedmas time.. Any excuse for grog on in Oz.

Watching this machine on eBay but getting up a bit high :( I really really want it though :)

Making Peter his favourite dinner this eve. and being SO nice but hey what am I talking about Peter says I can have anything I want anyway. Trouble is  I cannot feel good about spending such a lot of money :( but hey not a sheep station and we are dead a  long time and I might be able to convince Peter  a u-beaut Pilates Machine will extend our happy lives.

Apparently the trick on ebay is not to bid until the very last seconds, because you are probably bidding against the same person and driving up the cost of the item for no reason, also you need to be watching it in those last seconds as people out ther have software that automatically puts on a bid which means that at the end the software will slip in a bid unless you are there to counter it you will lose.  Just what I've been told, and yes from very relliable sources.

Deanna, sometimes you are quite right, but often it just does not matter. If I bid say $10 for an item, you could put in a bid of say, $30 but it will only show up on Ebay as a bid of $12.....(I think), I then bid $15 and your higher bid already in place will show up on Ebay as probably $17 or so.....everyone who tries to outbid you will be outomatically outbid until your highest bid has been exceeded.

I think you are right with that kfc, I don't bother too much because of the automated software that is around,  I just 'buy now' if I want something and it's a lot cheaper than anywhere else, I don't bother with the auction since you are really fighting against the automated software.

Heavens to Mergatroid!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!Thanks Deanna and kfc....er Is it worth the effort? I wonder would I have the patience? Maybe :)

Of course you would have the patience Phyl, my DIL uses it a lot and she loves the thrill of getting the item, she  has sold a lot on ebay as well, as her kids have outgrown their clothes, toys etc she sells them on there.

BTW, have you tried Gum Tree, same set up as ebay but hasn't been around so long,  it doesn't have an auction section, it's just a site to sell and buy, my daughter has bought so much stuff off  Gumtree, she watches and waits and when she sees what she wants she just calls up, she then goes around and checks it out. She has furnished her third house off of there, and all her purchases look like they have just come out of the store, all up to date styles etc.  They bought a new 62" 3D tv off there and saved about $1500 on the best price they could find in stores, and that was delivered from the Eastern States.

I sold the big running machine I had on Gumtree Deanna (I put it on this site also so it is still floating around with a sold on it) lol.

..

I advertised a lot of floating flooring on there also, but had many weird answers with nobody actually turning up so sold it through our local paper. I have many bits and pieces to sell but cannot be bothered before christmas (although it is probably a good time to sell) Us being so private I am not looking forward to strangers around our home to be honest. I might just get the Op. shop to come collect them all as some  big pieces. I might get my act together and sell as just being a real lazy bones by not.

..

I am still thinking about ebay.

..

Is happiness a Pilates machine? maybe, lol still thinking on that also lol.

Sounds like you're an old hand at it Phyl, ebay should be a breeze for you.  Just set up your Pay Pal, and you're on your way.  Honestly, I know a lot of people who use Pay Pal and I haven't heard of anyone who has been caught by it,  just use the well known sellers and you will be OK. I like to use the Aussie ones where ever possible.
