Bush Turkeys

I've recently noticed on my early morning walks a family of bush turkeys - there's six of them. They work their way up from East of the creek, towards the West. They're very shy. One of them has a hoppy leg, and I've noticed that it is the first to just disappear into the bush. Maybe it was attacked by one of the feral cats. Or maybe they're just naturally very cautious. Great to see them.

Sounds similar to any dog hit by a car who has the habit of chasing every car he/she can, but if it survives being hurt never chases a car again...Horrible way to receive a cure but maybe the Bush Turkey remembers how he/she got the sore leg.

My Son has them in his ayrd--and they are very tame--they come right up to you and take food from your hand

My yard and indeed a fair portion of my suburb - is full of them!! They are walking in the yard, they are sitting in the trees, they fly and land on my roof, then run frantically till they reach the other side(it's an A-frame). They scratch, scratch, scratch in my yard throwing up huge piles of debri. They are the bane of my existence!!

I chase them whenever I see them, cursing and yelling - but having said that, when I found a baby one recently being menaced by a dog, I scooped it up and rushed it off to the vet (yes I'm soft). The baby ones are seriously cute!
