Budget Airlines
I have periodically watched the TV show "Airline" which highlights the passenger experience of the "Easyjet" airline in Britain. I cant help wondering why they make the show as it shows a steady stream of irate, inconvenienced, and ill-treated passengers who vocally criticise the airline and its staff.
To my mind, most of the passenger complaints are well founded and the pimply faced immature staff who handle the complaints ignore common sense and fair play and rely solely on the strict and one sided rules printed on the ticket. They have no concern for the plight or additional costs imposed on passengers with little or no regard for the inconvenience caused by failures on the part of the airline.
I have had similar experiences with Jetstar and Virgin and these days, I happily pay a little more to ensure reliability and better treatment. I would be interested to hear of the experiences of others using "cheapie" airlines...
Good point kfc although I have not seen the program.
Recently I did an online booking to go to the far north of New Zealand.
I checked prices and although I have to pay an extra $20 I decided to go via Air NZ.
It means I fly from Nth Qld to Brisbane and then from Brisbane to Auckland with Virgin (or Pacific Blue) then from Auckland to Kaitaia with Air NZ.
Flying Quantas is out of the question mostly out of consideration of price and their lately bad reputation for safety.
Things have changed so much in recent years where once you were given a very nice meal mid flight for free, now you have to pay for a glass of water.
