BP Oil Spill

The Alabama Coastal Fishermans Association put this post up today. It's a picture of millions of tiny dead fish that looks like concrete. Scroll down to the picture.

My nephew of "Team Reel Crazy" invited me this morning to try Dog River, Bender Reef, and Gailiard Island.

Our first stop around the Grand Mariner, revealed thousands of dead pogies (menhaden) floating in the water. These pogies were about the size of a nickle. Sea birds were taking advantage of the kill...

It's a little unclear whether the menhaden were dead because of the oil. But then, the pelicans wouldn't be feasting on them if they were, I guess.

Anyway it's a terrible tragedy. I saw a doco last night which gave a pretty good picture of how it's affecting the fishermen and their livelihood.

One can only hope that a solution is found soon.

No mater if it is stopped now or soon--the effect it will have is unbelievable--and will continue to be for many years if not decades to come

These bastards should be shot. This is a bird.

Doesn't break your heart to see these innocent animals suffering--and imagine how many have done and will continue to do so

Where does the blame lie?

Machinery is not 100% perfect, every single man-made machine is prone to malfunctioning.

The use of, and need for oil by mankind in every country is growing, and which country uses the greatest amount?

The supply of oil by BP and other companies is to fulfil a demand, so, whilst the demand exists there will be a down side.

I have not yet seen any protesters against BP ride a horse. Even a bicycle needs oil.

Meanwhile, innocent wildlife suffers, again, caused by mankind.

Yes we are all to blame--as we are also the ones that use --want and need the oil

Canadian film director of Avatar and Titanic James Cameron said on Wednesday that BP had rejected his offer of help. He's worked with robot submarines and is considered an expert in undersea filming. “Over the past few weeks I’ve been watching, as we all have, with growing horror and heartache what’s happening in the Gulf, and thinking those morons don’t know what they’re doing,” he said.

Bottom line - he hasn't had any experience in drilling for oil.

The White House said last night that the US Government is sending BP a $69 million bill for clean-up costs to date.

MAkes you wonder where they get all the money from--with all these bail outs--you would think BP would have heaps of money

Yes Clay I do think that this is very possible. It could have disastrous effects on the global economy as well as the ecological damage it has done and will continue to do
