Bit of discussion about war.

Words from Seth:-
Although we cannot hold the present generation
of Japanese responsible, when I heard our P.M. talking about
our wonderful friendship I couldn’t help think of those in my unit
left lying in New Guinea, and the POW’s in Malaya
Also you only have to see what happened where they occupied
a country to know what would have happened in Australia.

...............
Seth Our family so agree with you "God help US if the Japs.
had won the war"
That said, true enough, the new generations are not responsible to a big degree
but then again are we all responsible to some degree, for what was done
and is being done and will be done?
..
My Brother and uncles also fought in New Guinea and O'seas and lives lost sadly.
So "Lest We Forget" forgive? sure we have to try hard (harder for some) but never forget.
..
Our Son back from East Timor and Somalia will never be the same person he
was before he fought so no we "will never forget" will we try to forgive? yes
Reminisce, and try to enjoy Anzac Day everyone and to those feeling sad which is most
of us for parts of the day - it is a day for rememberance and looking to the future also.
We still have kids in the army and always worry as is normal for parents.
..
Yes Seth I found it hard to accept Julia's words "re the great friendship/mateship we should
have with the Japanese. It is not as easy for some, as words spoken by others can be.
We all deal with Anzac Day and probably every day of our lives in our own way and as best we can.
Have a special day Everyone.
Phyl.

Good post Seth. I conceed some of your

posts make a lot of sense whereas others

I have no idea what you are on about.

I agree Yaretzi, Seth is a clever gentleman most of the time.

and I am sure knows a lot about the war, although

everyone of us has been/is touched by war in one way or another.

..

We all have our moments at being weird along with Seth (well that

concrete is a real worry) but when push comes to shove as long

as we do not hurt people anything really does go in a forum.

And I do not think you are "a bad old stick" yourself Yaretzi maybe

a bit outspoken? but who am I to say, all of us with our differences make for

a good forum to have fun and serious discussions and if we argue? helps

the grey matter as long as we are not cruel. I think we are all able to take

a joke.

Agreed that we will never forget what the Japs did--and how it would have been had they taken over here. I still have contact with a 89 year old that fought in NG and the things he has told me would make your hair curl and make you want to throw up. No war is ever good--no fighting is ever good--but the Japs were very cruel and still are.

"but the Japs were very cruel and still are" - only to whales!

Kika if you think the Japanese were, are, cruel JUST to animals

(and not just wales) talk to some of our Diggers and some

of the descriptions of what was done in the war would make

you cry and make you maybe think about whether we can ever absolutely

love the Japanese. I do not love the Japs. but I am not saying they were

the only beyond what was done in the war cruel to the extreme

as everyone has to be accountable, yes there are very cruel people

of all colour and creeds. The Prisoner of War Documentaries and

films make me cry.

We could have been under the Japanese or Germans here and I do

not think they would ever have given us the great life we have

allowed the Japanese and Germans to have.

........

I will forever be grateful "We won the Wars" As PlanB says "No War is ever good"

The lives lost terrible, and the lives ruined of the many who

did come home not the lives they would have had,

if they had not fought for our futures and even those not

killed or physically maimed the nightmares and memories are there forever to

haunt them.

God Bless every man and women who fought to protect us.

Today IS the day to remember

and give thanks but so is everyday as we are such a lucky Country.

Phyl.

Well said Seggy - we can thank the servicemen and women for our current lifestyle. But you're right, we need to forgive. People fight for what they believe in and unfortunately atrocities are committed along the way. We do need to forgive though, or it will never end. So bless you for stating this so well.

Seth makes a lot of wise statements and does it in a few easy to understand words.

No long winded boring statements, just gets his point across in an easy to understand manner.

He also has a wit to go with his wisdom.

I enjoy his serious posts and his banter.

Yes Seth does make a lot of sense.

..

Not taking anything away from anyone's thoughts

put on a forum - everyone can post if they want .

If the rest of us who ramble a bit and not quite as eloquent

want to post we are allowed surely.

Nobody has to read past the first line of anyone's post

if they are bored do they.

..

Takes a lot of typing fingers to make a forum and we can

all accept each other can't we?

Good post Seth. I conceed some of your

posts make a lot of sense whereas others

I have no idea what you are on about.

You are quite right yaretzi, I don't know either.

I just suppose when a joke or two got you through

some bad times, It stays with you and find it hard to

get serious for long when you cannot do anything about it.

Believe me when your life is on the line day after day

without a joke or picking on someone, you would go crazy.

It doesn't pay to get to upset as no one knows how long they have.

Fwed That was well said, I consider him a true friend and gentleman ,and I too would realy miss Seths wit and wisdom were he to ever stop posting. wobbly

Thanks for those expressions of my integrity,

I now know that I have been undercharging.

Settle Petal :( You will not be able to get into the

forum with your big head soon young Seth.

I have been sitting here waiting for that response, I just knew It was coming and It would make me laugh you old fogey !!!!!!!!!!!! bit too mushey for you were we? Sorry Seth you will just have to wear It, It Is true we do enjoy your pricecutting conniving conman wit and wisdom .wobbly.
