'Between the cards'

Hello, What about re-visiting the 'between the cards' again with this federal govt?
I can't remember whether you got an answer from the State Governments either.

Being a self-funded retiree with a few too many assets which takes me just over the pension concession card - the Centrelink deeming which takes me just over the low income card limit & a taxable income of well under the Senior tax threshold - I get very few fringe benefits with the Senior Health Care Card.

A single pensioner with their own house can earn up to near $40,000 & still get a card which covers municipal rates, water & sewerage, power, dog/cat registration, medical, hospital, radiology, ambulance (these are the most important things that I have to pay for in full).

I think it's discrimination, just because I saved for my old age I am getting punished.

In the last few weeks my problem was - Vic Rural ambulance used to bulk bill on production of the Senior Health Care Card, now they won't take it, so I'm up for a bill for $2,000.

Why doesn't the Senior Health Care card cover ALL medical expenses, not just prescriptions & telephone?

Maybe they need a 2 tier system for the Senior health care card, after all, the single income limit for this card is $50,000, not that far above the pensioner concession card.

Also you can't go too far in the country without petrol.

hi i read that it is getting worse , if you are using income streams for your savings ,any draw down for house maintenance, car etc will acrue as income and may lift you over the the threshold to make you no longer eligible for SCHC , maybe i am wrong but "the age " may 28 seems to say that , as a budget measure it will start on July 1-2009 B
