Between 60 and 65

Read something yesterday about being "inbetween" - too young for a pension, too old to get a job. I can't find that message today!
Anyway, a suggestion. If you've got no ties in Oz (or you've got ties you want to get away from), how about Australian Volunteers International, AVI? They have opportunities in all sorts of places for people with all sorts of skills. I became a volunteer when I was 62, had a good experience, and earned enough to live on.
Incidentally, the oldest AVI in Thailand at that time was 80!
Check out the website.

That's a nice idea but if you are on Newstart, Centrelink are not going to view that very kindly. If you are over 60(or indeed, any age)and cannot find employment, you must do 30 hours of volunteer work per fortnight, and they have to approve who you volunteer with.Overseas volunteer work would not be approved as you can't leave the country for extended periods of time if you are on Newstart.
