Be ready for that "unexpected" trip to hospital

I have a small overnight bag packed with what I would require if I was hospitalised at short notice.

This is not far from the front door and it would be easy for a paramedic to grab it if I was being taken by ambulance.

This has happened to me and I was unprepared at the time...I am now.

Radish...never a truer word said...it pays to be ready, it is surprising what you need to have ready...better to be prepared than panic at the time.

Yes very tue I should also have one, have meant to pack one but as yet have not

Very good idea Radish

Have one packed inside my wardrobe

which reminds me I'd better check it,

wash and replace some items.

As we get older the chance of an unexpected trip to hospital increases and I think it is better to be prepared.

Also tell your family where your bag is located as well as you may not be able to when you make the unexpected trip.

Thanks again Radish :)

I've replenished my hospital bag .... included a laundry bag in it too.

My knowledge has considerably increased not only of making sure you are prepared for that unexpected trip to a hospital, but what to expect if in the elderly {aged} range, and go to an aged care rehab.Do not accept what you are told as being completely true. Make clear your wishes, sign nothing until you have a clear mind, and fully understand what is happening, as you will be under a lot of pressure,

Thanks for the advice $eth

It is not only until you are in that stressed situation that people can get you to sign different papers which you would not under normal circumstances.

I remember being in Hospital with my mum for 8 hours waiting to be admitted ( she was on a stretcher)

When a clerk came to see me wanting me to sign for a Private Hospital claim as we had been there for 8 hours ..... needless to say my response would not be suitable to put on the forum.

Good advice Seth, better get rid of those bottles of vintage red, or I won't have a clear mind!!!

Did you have private health insurance Abbs ...

Yes but would not pay these inefficient people who kept me waiting for 8 hours ... nothing but a scam.

After my parents stopped paying for their private Insurance because Paul Keating said it was not necessary ... I started paying it for them.

If you live in a country town, medical services are not to the city standards and if you need aything done but energency, it is highly advisable to be privately insured.

Seth hope things are working out as you want now rather than well meaning people pressurising you to do what they think is best for you. Always good to have some one advocate for you when you are under emotional/physical stress.

Viv, I was given the phone and address for the "Elders Rights Advocacy" in Vic, by a very kind person, in case it is needed,
