Australia’s PM woes … again.

More than 100,000 Australians are homeless. Drought is wringing the life out of the land and those trying to survive on it. Fires burn up and down the NSW coast. Housing and financial stress is at record levels across the land.

And what are the nation’s leaders and would-be leaders focussing their energies upon?

Leadership woes.

Australia hasn’t witnessed a prime minister serve a full term since John Howard lost his last election in 2007.

Full Fairfax story.

So sick of this nonsense.

The Julius Caesar syndrome is alive and well in Australian politics. So leader shall be allowed the title of a good leader unless he follows the instructions of the mob

Oh how true Charlie. It seems like it has been going on for a long time now. The machinations of party sides and factions.

• Peacock/Howard/Downer/Howard
• Hawke/Keating
• Rudd/Gillard/Rudd
• Abbott/Turnbull/??

Last one should be Turnbull/Abbott/Turnbull.

Liberal Party of Australia leadership spill, 2009 - WikipediaThe incumbent leader Malcolm Turnbull was defeated by Tony Abbott on the second ballot; Joe Hockey also stood as a candidate. Abbott thus replaced Turnbull as Leader of the Opposition, and would lead the party to the 2010 federal election.

Perish the thought that Peter "Dudhead" would ever become PM - or worse still ScoMo!!

Australia must be the laughing stock of the world right now (politically)  - appalling the way these "pathetic men" are treating the public who vote for them!  Why bother ever voting again?  These creeps seem to do whatever they want - to hell with the voter and what 'we the people" vote for/want?

I cannot remember a time when there were sooo many "nasties" in the Libs?  Ever!!!?

...and Nooooooooo I am not a Labor voter (did once in my life - only once!)

Voters are calling/emailing/texting their local Lib. MP's en masse - saying that if Dutton becomes PM they will all "jump ship" and vote for Shorten??  Really?

I don't normally involve myself in politics but the thought of Dutton/ScoMo or Cormann ever becoming PM - makes me wanna' puke -  and that's putting it mildly!!

Agree 110% RnR - get on with running the country!!!  There's a hellova mess here right now and getting worse!!!

Gillard introduced a policy that after one year as PM ... they are entitled to the generous pension and perks of the Prime Minister ...no wonder they keep changing.

I must ask why do retired Politicians need Office staff and free phone calls travel etc.... even Royalty in GB do NOT get that from the Taxpayer.

Rudd is about to publish a book on his life as PM .... who cares and why should the Taxpayer have to pay for it ?

...... pity the lack of "ye old outback dunny's" - Rudd's book could probably hang in one of those? lol

This whole leadership spill is a travesty!!!

And so it goes on ...

Chaos in Canberra

What a farce … breaking news this morning. Not much better in the US.

ABC.

Our country is suffering from these politicians with huge egos where self-interest rules.

If the leader were elected by ALL paid-up members of the LNP or Labor Party, (not MPs),  it could stop a lot of this nonsense.

Family

So he has a family - does that make him a better politician?...a better man?

Could there be more to the current shenanigans than meets the eye? Dutton is making a move when there is a possibility he may be turfed out because of falling foul of the constitution (44v). So if he becomes PM shortly (most likely today) and within weeks has to step down while the high court considers his legitimacy, who will take his place? Abbott will of course! Is this the cunning Abbott’s master plan? John Hewson has stated that he believes Abbott is using Dutton for the time being and will no doubt make his move on Dutton when it becomes obvious that he is unpopular with the electorate. I wonder though if Abbott has perceived an even faster way of getting back to the Lodge with the 44v hanging over Dutton’s head?

A lot of hot air!  44v didnt rule out Kevin Rudd? How did Kevin 007 navigate around 44v?

Section 44(5) is the same part of the nation's founding document that brought former South Australian senator Bob Day undone.

The High Court ordered his disqualification from the Senate last year, after ruling leasing arrangements for his Adelaide electoral office breached the constitution.

and that is what is hanging over Dutton's head.

Don’t you remember Adrianus? Kevin Rudd’s wife sold her Australian business before he became PM, precisely to avoid him falling foul of 44v. It was a great sacrifice she made for her man. She had other businesses overseas and was able to retain them.

Peter Dutton does have a nice looking family.

Peter Duttonâ??s VERY modern family

To those who say Liberal supporters will defect if Dutton is PM, I think everyone deserves a chance and judging a book before it is read might not be a good idea.

Every parent has a nice looking family - so what????

Dutton is a book one can already read - hates gays, hates blacks, loves white Africans and wants to bring heaps here because he believes they are being persecuted by black Africans, heartless and unmoved by asylum seeker deaths in custody, religious fanatic etc etc etc. He is a cold, hard, not very intelligent man and he is also a puppet - Abbott’s puppet!

Yes KIAH, I agree, families are very important.

I am also South African and I know what the white farmers are going through. I have no problems with them being allowed to come to Australia.

He has heart for white South Africans, no heart for asylum seekers or black refugees. The man is a racist!

You are making fools of yourselves with all the family photographs. Do you really think we out here are so shallow as to be taken in by sickly family sentimentality? How about providing some intelligent input instead about the current crisis and why you like Dutton?

Ignore the troll ladies. More nice pics.

Robi .... you are 100% correct in what you say regarding Dutton!  Definitely Abbott's puppet!!  Scary actually!

Regan - how 'bout you be a good lil' doggy dog and go for longggg walkies - and stop calling decent people "trolls"!!  You are always looking for some kind of altercation on here!

Strange that a "man" would bother to look for and bother to post such "soppy" pics????  Feeling ok??   lol lol lol

You are both TROLLS.

If you open your silly little eyes, you will see that ROBI attacked both toot2000 and myself for putting up pictures.

KIAH, sweetie sweet of Reagan, and Reagan sweetie sweet of KIAH,

Nope, I’m not a troll and neither is Foxy. Sorry to disappoint you both. Go have a good red with Micha and get over it.

Still not ready for that Lie Detector Test Robiconda?

Yup,we drink only the best red, jealous Robi.conda?

Lie Dectector Test? Why? Is KIAH not the sweetie sweet of Reagan and Reagan not the sweetie sweet of KIAH?

Just watching Malcom Turnbull press conference outlining what will happen next ...

• If he gets the letter from the party signed by a majority (43 signatures) he will call a party meeting for midday tomorrow.

• By that time the Attorney General will have advised on whether Peter Dutton is eligible to sit in the parliament.

• If the meeting goes ahead, Malcolm Turnbull will call for a spill motion in the meeting, he will not contest the position himself.

Just my take ... I'm sure the media will dissect every word he said ... in great detail LOL.

If he steps down and out it will obviously cause yet another by-election.

I wish he'd just call an early election.  What has he got to lose?  He's probably gone no matter how this plays out.

His party doesn't deserve his loyalty, they haven't exactly shown him any.  I think I'd have more respect for him if he took his revenge on them by calling an early election which they would be almost certain to lose.

Bring it on Malcolm!

Can he call an early election when his position as PM is in such doubt? Don’t they have to resolve who will lead the Party first? Unless of course Parliament is dissolved ...

He is already done for and looks like our future PM will be either Dutton or Morrison. What a choice! At least there will be a by election when Turnbull resigns from Parliament and they may very well lose that. Do they still have only a one seat majority?

I think he can, he's still PM, it's unlikely that he would though.   At least one journalist seems to think that he can.

Just to muddy the waters further the ABC are reporting that now Julie Bishop is going to throw her hat in the ring too.

.... rather Julie Bishop "muddying the waters" than Dutton/ScoMo/Cormann!!  Talk about the 3 Stooges!!!

Apparently the pollies are all 'working the phones' at the moment, but it looks like someone forgot his mobile.  LOL

Best of luck Julie..this calls for a portrait..

She is only canvassing support at the moment, she hasn’t committed.
